Alchemy with apparatus - nothing on level-up

Post by Schatten »

I've been eating alchemy ingredients until my Alchemy skill reached the level of 80 or so. At that moment I've found Master apparatus and decided to put them to use. When it was finally the time to level-up, there was no multiplier for Intelligence, not even 2x, although I'm sure I've had at least 10 increases in Alchemy during the last level. Is that a bug or making potions "doesn't count"?

[Update] There's one important detail I forgot to tell: my Intelligence is at 95 now and I've heard that there's some bug that doesn't allow to have a multiplier when there're only 5 or less attribute points left. Is that true and is there a way to fix it?

There certainly is a bug like that, I'd forgotten about that one. I don't know if there is a fix for it, but you can get to 100 if you accept that there is no alternative but to take the +1 on level up.

PS If you are playing on a PC you can get the four more points you are 'owed' by using the console; the command is (I think, it's been a while) player->setIntelligence 100

Nah, that's cheating! It's like copyrighted soft: use strictly for testing purposes :)

Morrowind is one of the games where cheating (using console) is most often used to fix one of the many bugs that you will encounter.
Other one would be BG2 :D

So i agree with galraen. Fixing bugs with console is not cheating. I have to constantly "reduce" my inventory weight, due to it increasing for some buggy reason, so that even when naked and having nothing in backpack, i sometimes "carry" some weight. (i believe that it's caused by feather spells and sleeping / waiting, but i'm not 100% sure, or by burden spells that continue to work even when the duration runs out)

Should you ever need to do that :

player->removeitem "misc_soulgem_common" X

Where X is the amount of pounds / kilograms that you have bugged (common soulgems have a weight of 1). Only do it when naked to see how much you have to reduce.
