How are the monks in this game

Usually favor spellswords for my character but it's gotten stale. Monks worthwhile?

monks are ok, but not that special.

from a powerplayer perspective they aren't much to write home about, they lack the ability to use alot of the more powerful weapons and don't have a ready supply of cool gear like in the nwn games.

that being said i like the monk animations in bg2, and from a rp perspective a pc monk relying on not much more than his / her fists kind of works.

If you install the Monks HLA portion of the Oversight mod, the Monks HLAs, which are typically just the fighter HLAs, are replaced by abilities similar to what Balthazar uses in TOB. Puts a different spin on Monks as they move into TOB.

That won't bug out any quests or anything? The reason why I wanted to try out a monk was because Balthazar's abilities seemed so powerful. Not as powerful as a dual-wielding spellsword with tenser's transform but still.

Mods rarely bug out quest & co from vanilla. They may however bug out quests & co from OTHER mods.
