Make Demonology Tanks

Post by terran698 »

this is what the changes i think would needed to be for a hybrid dps/tank tree (just like the druids feral tree).

meta forms are lvl10 talent bonus' as felguard would need massive buffing to be worth it as a core talent bonus and is now the lvl69 talent

* add a permanent meta for tanking w/ 10% less damage done and 300% more threat from shadow and fire spells

* a talent that provides your minion with 3/6% chance to not be critically hit and when it dodges or parrys it has a chance to increase its damage by 20% also reduces your spell pushback from damaging attacks by 50/100%

* soul link now transfers 75% of all damage taken by your minion to you but transfers 75% of your threat to your minion

* add a talent that gives you and your minion ?% of your intellect as dodge and parry and gives it 100% of your stamina as its stamina

* cremation now lowers immolates cast time by 50/100% has a 50/100% chance to transfer your immolate ( and possibly corruption) DoT to all targets within range as well as refreshing its duration, and lowers hellfires damage by 75% and causes it to do no damage to the warlock and become a buff for xx amount of seconds (based on meta form)

* add a spec bonus similar to a blood dk's vengeance only that it works on you or your minion and provides spellpower instead of attack power (when in the tanking demon form) instead of demonic knowledge

* for the tank meta mastery you would get 9% increased dodge and parry (each) with an additional 1.25% dodge and parry(each) per mastery point

* and lastly demonic embrace also increases your armor contribution from items by 4/8/12% (again when in tank meta form)

proposed new glyphs

* glyph of gul'dan: increases hand of gul'dans damage radius to to 12 yards

* glyph of stone demons: increases the armor of your minions by 50%

new spells

* torment: torments the target into attacking you, this spell has no effect if the target was already targeting you, 8 second cooldown

* demonic chant:you chant a spell forcing all targets within 10 yards to attack you for 6 seconds, 3 minute cooldown

and i think that would be all that is necessary for demo locks to be a tank AND dps, what do yall think? is their anything i have missed? constructive criticism is welcome.

that's the blizzforums for you unfortunately. any thread is likely to either be infested with trolls, locked/deleted for violating some obscure rule (no explanation will ever be given as to why) or both

I can actually remember using warlock tanks on a few fights in the past, mostly in gimmicky fights which were pretty much designed with that in mind though. Twin Emperors, that demon hunter in Serpentshrine and we even had one tank Netherspite in kara once
it'd certainly be an interesting direction to go, and given that at the moment all the tank classes are pretty similar (not identical, but not all that far off) having a caster class be a tank option could be pretty fun

sadly I doubt it'd happen though, Blizz seem determined to stick certain classes with three different specs that pretty much do the same thing just slightly differently. part of the reason I prefer the hybrid classes
I don't care, I'm still free. You can't take the sky from me

/agree

i agree completely. thats why i canceled my subscription and will be playing rift soon as they have classes with differences not 10 classes that you cant tell one from the other.

i used to play a warrior tank lvl85 started getting into heroics and got turned into a paladin more and more every patch and hotfix and i basically rage  quit as its not fun anymore so for $15 i'll just play a game that is fun.

p.s. i didnt immediately rage quit i tried to get my lvl60 warlock a higher level and when i was only doing 300dps(which my lvl20 feral druid can hit) instead of the 600dps it was doing on patch 3.3  , i felt like i was a burden on the groups i was running with then with only 2 classes @a semi-high level i rage quit then.
