dragon age 2 slow

Post by mewp »

About four hours into the game I gave up because it is so slow. I heard there might be a patch to fix that . Does anyone know? :p

Slow? How so?

The only "slowness" I've come across was from playing too long. Hawk doesn't move at all, or can't interact with anything.

Not sure what you mean by slow, but if you mean a low frame-rate then you might try the DirectX 9 renderer if you had been using the DirectX 11 one so far. On my reasonably decent computer (Nvidia 9800 GTX+), it sent the frame-rate from mid-20s to upper-50s. I was also using the high resolution textures (they work with the DirectX 9 contrary to some reports).

It works fine if you disable full screen mode!

You mean using the tab below? I thought that is what I was doing. It still just creeps along. I know I should have more patience but I quit smoking 20 years ago and patience is not one of my better things.

If the game is responding too slowly, then I'd recommend going to the graphics options and picking a lower setting.

I still don't get it. Is this a frame-rate issue where you are facing stuttering and the like?

Or a personal issue where you just can't stand the default running speed of Hawke and co.?

It is like they are moving in slow motion. LIke the commercial with the people running in slow mo. It doesn't happen during battles only trying to get from one place to another.

Is this only for the "Hawke" and do you possible have Isabella on friend so you get the bonus?

There's a known bug that Isabella's attack speed modifier messes up Hawke's attack speed if she gets removed automatically from the game (aka entering the Qunari complex with her in group).

The only known fix so far I've seen that works is to use an editor to alter the savegame.

I'm pretty sure this was fixed in the latest patch?

Yes, if you wish to start a new game it should be. But not if you're in the middle of one.

Ok, that sucks. I had a quick look over at the nexus and saw this mod DA2 v1_01 Save Game Fix at Dragon Age Nexus - Dragon Age mods and community says it should fix saves broken by the patch, maybe give it a try?
