Viconia

Post by davfrahen »

I seem to remember that if party reputation gets too high, Viconia leaves. If this is true, what level? And what is the best way to lower your level painlessly?

Evil characters will leave at 19 or 20 reputation.
Some quests will drop your reputation if you solve them evilly.
The only really painless way to reduce reputation that I can think of:

<SPOILER>
Using the Slayer special ability you acquire after Spellhold.
</SPOILER>

Other than that, you could run into a house in Amn and kill some people.
The hostily shouldn't affect people in the streets.
Sage plays a paladin,
because other classes would be frowned upon for laying their hands on a wounded companion

Ah, the age-old reputation question... :D

I'm not sure whether she leaves on her own, or is it just that if your rep is high and you dump her, she's lost forever. I rarely take her along.

The easiest way to lower your reputation is available after Spellhold - just turn into the Slayer for a few seconds. Other than that things are more difficult, people have mentioned a way of killing a bystander and not getting the whole area hostile, but I've never managed that.

You could always get the Assassinations mod. It's a collection of murderous mini-quests that will make it hard to keep the reputation high. :D

One can always slaughter waves and waves of guards, cowled wizards, knights of the order and civilians. It's the FUN way.

Your starting alignment plays a role in your reputation. Lawful good starts much higher than chaotic evil. So, unless you're playing a Paladin, you have some wiggle room.

Other than that. Feel free to cast some magic in Amn a couple of times and deal w/ the consequences. That always works. Oh. and maybe
* Kind of a SPOILER*
At the Copper Coronet, finish the quest for Lehtinan and NOT Hendak.

I'm sure there are other evil quests you can finish. but those are a few off the top of my head for now.

If you don't mind modding your game, I'm pretty sure I've seen some mods that remove that whole nonsense of evil characters leaving because of reputation.

I know there's also at least one mod in which you can pay bards to spread your notoriety, lowering your reputation. If the idea of attacking people or doing a few evil quests is really that un-appealing.

Ah yes - slayer form in the Uderdark. I'd forgotten that one. I'm rep 14 at the moment. Viconia did walk out on me once. I can't remember what my rep was but she just upped and left. I've got Weimers bag of tricks, so perhaps that would stop her.
She's the only addition to my party and she makes it very hard to romance.

Gibberlings 3 Tweakpack has a component to remove the leaving because of reputation business.

Every time Viconia joins, your reputation is lowered by 2 points. So another method is constatly dropping her off the team and then letting her rejoin.

But really, you're the son of Bhaal, kill some people/elves/gnomes!

Doesn't reputation go up by 2 points when you drop her too, though?

See this link. You'll want the Happy Patch which disables NPCs complaining about the party's reputation.
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.
