Smite HLA

Post by chickenhed »

I was wondering what some of your experiences are with the Smite HLA? Does it work with archery and ranged attacks? While I know the knockback doesn't work on some baddies, does the critical strike work on knockback-immune monsters?

Anyway, any general opinions on this HLA are welcome. I'm curious about it as I have never used it.

I like it only on fast ranged characters, since you can essentially "stunlock" your opponent. For melee characters this ability isn't worth it mainly because you end up chasing the enemy accross the room only to hit him again and watch them fly off in a different direction.

Even if the enemy is immune to the knockdown effect, they will still be affected by the critical hit effect, however, keep in mind that since almost everyone in the game wears a helmet, the only thing you get out of it is a guaranteed hit.

Yes smite works for melee and ranged attacks.
The critical strike element works against knockback immune enemies.

I always get the 1 rank of smite on everyone that can get it.
1vs1 it's usually useless agreed, you just end up having to chase your target, possibly revealing even more enemies. The good: It's absolutely awesome to help your tank save party members that are being attacked whilst knocked down, held, confused, etc. I consider it a must have.

Very interesting. Thanks Crenshinibon and Avatar.

Very good point about it being very useful for ranged attacks and also that the crit won't work against most monsters because of helmets.

Also a very good point about it being a "peel" for the tank to get something off of a weaker party member.

Great stuff!
