is there fast travel in skyrim?
i read some ideas people had about the elder scrolls 5, and many said they did not want the fast travle because they are tempted to use it, but find more treasures without it, so i wondered if they put the fast travle feature in skyrim, is it going to be in there?
i listened to a few podcasts, and it seems that it is included, however it stands to reason that the community wil fix this, given enough time.

I think that the big problem is that people don't want it (many) but are tempted to use it if it is in the game. Big psychology. If that were not true then why not have the feature in the game so that those who like it can use it, and those who don't do not. Essentially it suits a broader audience. However as I mentioned psychologically it doesn't suit because people are tempted. I think a partial work around is to make a choice at character creation. Those who don't want to use it with any integrity will click the box to disable it for the lifetime of that character. They may reload, but that character is doomed not to have fast travel. I think most people can be disciplined for 5 minutes to hit a check box. But once they have chosen there is no temptations. Then all sides could be happy since there is more choice for what features a player may have. Of course mods take care of the whole problem, but many of the fan base still do not use mods particularly on consoles.
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.
I liked the fast travel version in Morrowind better, you had a few portals, boats and silt striders which could take you to a choice of a few places. personally I'd have preferred that you could only travel to places you'd already been to once (with a few exceptions that would become active if you had a quest to go to a distant place, so the non-explorey inclined could still get where they needed to) and then it'd be pretty much perfect. still retains a healthy emphasis on exploration but doesn't force you to do it, and you have the convenience of fast travel when you need it or are in a hurry
the click almost anywhere on the map and teleport straight there method of Oblivion combined with the repetitive "haven't I seen this dungeon before?" and the FPS killing Oblivion gates of "ok I know I've done this one before" pretty much killed exploration

Good point vio. I always level up to like 10 for a run through Oblivion and then I get bored because the bandits and things are just too repetitive. And the dungeons are all the same corridors or caves just different windings. I kinda like the Ayleid ruins though.

Hopping on the bandwagon, I also agree with vio. I love Oblivion, don't get me wrong, but there are places where I can actually see a location from my current location, and fast-travel there. A little ridiculous.
Morrowind had so much more variety.
But, in Skyrim, though I'm sure they will have some type of fast travel, I hope there will be incentive for exploration. In Morrowind, you could find a cave that contained an amazingly powerful artifact at level one, or run into something that kicked your ass five feet from Seyda Neen. In Oblivion, anything even marginally interesting was quest-related or held nothing of worth-- and everything was full of creatures easily beaten even on the hardest of difficulties. Not to mention all you'd find at lower levels would be an iron axe that's not as good as the starter sword, or a copper ring that you can't enchant until you earn a mountain of gold or complete a lengthy questline (though I do love the Mages Guild).
I read that Skyrim's dungeons are randomly generated. I think that's great, as it'll remove the "go here and grab this *yawn*" feeling I had rolling new characters in Oblivion. Hopefully they'll add some nice stuff to the loot tables, so I'll get the "let me run through every cave between this town and my destination on the off-chance I'll run across something cool" feeling I had in Morrowind.
I'd also really enjoy seeing the return of Mark and Recall.

well there'll probably be some kind of fast travel, it's just that at this time we don't know if it'll be like Oblivion (click anywhere from anywhere and go there) or Morrowind (travel from specific places to other places, mark and recall spells) or something completely different

In Oblivion, the first time I had to get to a new destination, no matter how far away it was, I'd run there, pilfering any ruins on the way. If I got encumbered , then I'd just fast travel back to the nearest town, sell up, fast travel back to where I was and carry on jogging to my destination. I still get all the fun of exploring and drop the tedium of running everywhere.
Fast Travel, DLCs, QTEs, Gay Romances, 'I want to be a Dragon' Dialogue, general streamlining, Quest Compass and such are here to stay. You can thank consoletards with zero attention span for that.
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.
