so I just started Witcher 2, imported a save game where Geralt sided with the Scoia'tael and chose Shani yet the game starts with him in bed with Triss (at first I thought maybe they just changed Shani's look but dialogue reveals her to indeed be Triss) and a few bits of dialogue suggest he's on less than friendly terms with the Scoia'tael...
so has my import bugged or something? I'm not asking for major spoilers, if this is working fine and will be explained later in the game then that's all I need to know, but if my import has bugged I'd like to try to get that fixed before playing properly

that's odd, if it isn't a bug I hope it's at least explained at some point. it's not going to kill the game for me but it is rather annoying to have such a huge and confusing change without any explanation or even acknowledgement. could've sworn Triss had vowed to pretty much have nothing to do with Geralt at the end of Witcher 1 and Geralt was practically falling in love with and talking about settling down with Shani. sure things can change but it's important to show or be told how they changed, or acknowledge that they have changed at very least. ah well, maybe I'll start my Witcher 1 replay over and do a Triss/Order play just so it fits in better

When I heard that Triss would be much more prominent than Shani (if she appears at all) in TW2 I decided to play a make an Order/Triss walkthrough. As a result, the story feels pretty natural to me so far.
But yeah, this isn't handled v. well, I originally chose Shani as well.

Ya, from a story standpoint it looks like the save game import is pretty irrelevant. It appears to assume a neutral ending with Triss as the love interest. Near as I can tell Shani isn't in the game at all.
Still you get some swell starter gear out of the equation. But there is a bit of a discord between choices in the first game and the start of the second if you go Scoiteal or with Shani.

I'm not too bothered about the items, it's usually not hard to get gear and money in games anyway so don't need to rely on imports or DLCs (promotional or otherwise) for them, but it's disappointing that the story isn't reflected. oh well, I was replaying Witcher 1 anyway to refresh my memory so I've decided to start again and go for Triss and either Order or Neutral this time

Literally the only dialogue flag I've noticed was Foltest mentioning that Adda was alive because of Geralt. In the non save import she defaults as having died. The only ending I'm aware of where Triss is the Royal adviser is in the neutral ending and Triss is the royal adviser no matter what. I'm not really certain why they bothered really...

I understand what you mean, but I guess they did it for people like me. Even if some of your previous choices seem irrelevant I still love the feeling of my actions having small impacts here and there. It's good to at least get a mention for having managed to save Adda and Thaler. It ties me closer to the setting and makes me weigh my actions for the greater good.jklinders wrote:I'm not really certain why they bothered really...
