Shar'ra Combat Stats-
AC- 13 (+2 Dex, +1 Natural)[15 fighting defensively, 17 total defense]
HP- 12/12

Attack-
-1 Dagger (melee), +2 Dagger (ranged, 10ft)
1D4-1 Melee, 1D4 Ranged
19/x2
Actions-

Free Action- "So be it! Such a waste."

Standard Action- (defensive) Breath Weapon (DC 13 Reflex) (It's a 15 foot cone, but if I can I'll breath away from the corpse created by the guard to reduce evidence against me).
1d6+0
6+0 = 6 Fire (3 if saved)

DM Ruling- Catching on fire (DMG- 303) says that if it's an instantaneous fire spell, the target won't catch on fire. However, my breath weapon is instantaneous but not a spell. Does this incur catching on fire rules or no?

Free Action- Five foot step away

Free Action- Body Lamp (DC 12 Fortitude) or Dazzle (DMG- 300)

DM Ruling: I'm going to say no, it doesn't light things on fire. The reason spells like fireball don't light people on fire is because they're instantaneous, not because they're spells. "Spells such as fireball or flame strike don't normally set a character on fire, since the heat and flame from these come and go in a flash." (Dungeon Master's Guide 300). Since breath weapons are instantaneous, I'm going to assume they function the same way.

Also: A breath weapon can be a straight line. That would ensure avoiding the corpse.

Guard Reflex: 1d20+2=12- The guard, clearly not expecting such an attack, is fully engulfed by your flames.

Guard Fortitude: 1d20+4=21. Eyes still clasped tightly to protect them from your breath attack, the potentially blinding light has no effect.

Free action: He steps towards you.

Standard action: He swings his sword again (1d20+3=8), but does not close enough distance to hit you.

Elliah stole a glance to Westan and Akumo before following Dannis into the charred establishment. "I see, ser Dannis, I'm sorry to hear that our possessions are already lost to us." She says, making sure to keep her eyes peeled as she enters, making sure she's aware of any possible escape routes in case things go wrong, as well as anything suspicious about the building or the men inside.

Oh sweet, I didn't realize they were interchangeable. Well then...yeah, since I'm fighting one guy, my breath weapon is a line for this battle.

Spot- You notice nothing.

Dannis turns to you as you speak. "I'm afraid I can't," he says apologetically. "Everything from last night has already been moved to a secure location. "Besides, walking around these streets armed is suicidal without a warrant." He then points towards the burned-out wreck. "And you're right, we can't talk here. Come inside if you're interested."
...
Westan seems partially surprised hearing this news, but nevertheless he follows Dannis inside prepared for anything. Once inside he looks around curious about the interior of the house which looks so desolated from the exterior.

(Still at the empty tavern)

Akumo, Westan, and Elliah

The wreck looks no better inside than out; the walls are scorched badly, and the smell of burning, rotten wood has yet to subside. Dannis takes you through several undecorated hallways, passing two or three other loyalists. They eye you suspiciously, as could be expected.

Westan Spot-You notice nothing out of the ordinary.
Westan Listen- As you make your way down the dark corridors (the rebels have opted against the use of torches, for obvious reasons), you can hear footsteps from below. A basement, perhaps?

In a bit, the four of you reach a dead end with an ornate rug covering the floor. Dannis stoops over and drag it to one side, revealing a trap door leading down. "This is where the Captain is," he addresses you all. "I'm a recruiter, but you still have to pass a Captain's inspection."

Shar'ra

Guard Reflexx: 1d20+2=11. Once again, your flames scorch the guard horribly, causing him to cry out in terror and pain.

Sha'ra Spot: He's in a bad way, barely staying alive. Your last attack has left him scarred for life.

Shar'ra Intimidate-Success!: "Please... just stop..." he pants as he falls to his knees. "What kind of demonspawn are you?" he glares upwards, trying to catch his breath. You see that his right eye is a translucent pool of slime, dripping down into his cracked, burned skin. (Make a Fortitude save vs nausea.)

(You gain 75 XP for successfully defeating the loyalist agent.)

Fortitude-
1d20+5
10+5 = 15

"You brought this on yourself. Now, finish your job and take me to the captain," I say, keeping him at a safe distance, both his weapons taken and lips occasionally smoldering.

Once I arrive where the Captain is, after any level of shock and "what the hells" from the captain, I look over at the disfigured guard. "You're going to explain to him about the dead body outside in the halls, and then you're going to explain who and what you are. Cooperate, and you might just get out of this alive."

Akumo simply remains silent through the whole encounter, keeping behind Elliah and Westan.

Akumo keeps his eyes peel and using his knowledge about smuggling tries to figure out or at least get a basic idea of what kind of set up this people have.

(Knowledge local? = 12+6=18)

"Well let's get on with this". The red haired dwarf says to the recruiter.

He shrugs and casually adjusts his hidden wrist blade, making sure it´s ready for use, should things go foul.

(Sleight of hand: 17+7=24 yes! :D )

Akumo also keeps his eyes peeled for anything suspicious, useful or escape routes or signals that the guards may make between themselves.

(Spot: 9+0=10)
(Search: 13+6=19)
(Sense motive: 17+2=19)

(OCC: Akumo only has his sleeve blade, his shortsword is probably with his stash)

Shar'ra-

"I know the location of the hideout for the loyalists and will gladly give it to you. I will surrender these weapons now, and if my claim turns out to be false, I accept full responsibility for what happens and will not resist in any way.

But I promise you, I swear on King Agamemnon's scarred tail, this man is a loyalist who I only fought against for self defense!"

Diplomacy- Success!- Captain Varryn strokes his beard in silent contemplation. Finally, he says, "I don't know why I'm doing this... but I can't let a this kind of lead go. For the time being, I'm going to assume you're telling the truth. Help me get Toress here to the infirmary, then we can talk about this supposed loyalist hideout. Needless to say, if you're lying and this turns out to be a trap..." He clenches his fist around the hilt of the sword at his waist.

"Sir- what are you doing?!" Toress asks, horror evident in his voice. "You'd trust...this monster over...me..." With that, his eyes close and he slumps to the ground. Varryn quickly checks for a pulse, and is visibly revealed to find one.

"He's fainted," he explains unnecessarily. "Come on, we'll talk on the way."

Akumo, Elliah, and Westan

Akumo Knowledge Local- The style of this wreck initially resembles a small manor house, but closer inspection reveals that it's just a coverup. This house was never burned down; it was built this way...

Akumo Sleight-of-Hand- Success!- With a trained flick of your wrist, you ensure that your blade is ready to use.

Akumo Spot/Search- Nothing found.

Sense Motive- Dannis seems honest about his intentions, but you get the feeling that he has ulterior motives to recruiting the three of you.

Dannis leads you all down a short ladder into an unexpected sight; rather than a dimly lit corridor or even a cave, the lower level of this hideout is a veritable fortress! An open cavern greets you, lit by numerous large floating orbs, with a huge staircase leads down from your current position. It stretches down at least 100 feet, if not more, and is by some miracle in pristine condition. At its foot is a walled citadel, stretching up to the ceiling and sporting hundreds of murder holes. It takes up the majority of the cavern, and at this distance you measure it to be at the very least 70 feet wide. The exterior is deserted, but you can all hear shouting and laughter from within.

Dannis grins at your expressions. "Turns out Karnakiid wasn't the first city out here after all," he tells you. "This place is part of what's left from an old underground empire from thousands of years ago, so far as we can figure. Most of it's fallen apart by now, of course, but this is still sturdy as the day it was made!"

I calmly set the sword and dagger down on the ground, "Sir I speak no lie and I assure you, I offered him the chance to surrender instead of fight.

His exact words were I believe "I am a myth and it will stay that way until a sword is through her [the queen's] chest." I am not from here, in fact I am not from a city of any kind. I am a drifter with no city and no home, and I want you to know, I am loyal to no one but King Agamemnon, an Ancient Sand Dragon far far to the east, who has granted me his power and a boon for my people in return for my services. I am his for life.

By the by, if you are wondering how I bested your guard, it was not steel, it was my breath alone. That should be evidence enough that I am in service to a dragon and not some random conspirator or insurrectionist from this city."

As we walk, I explain to him in detail the situation about the weapons, my companions who are already there preparing the ambush (and thus are on my and consequently his side), and another short tempered companion who I find to be hot tempered but innocent just in case we run in to him.

I also explain to him why I'm doing this-

"My current purpose here is to investigate any potential threats to my King. These 'threats' sound as if they go well beyond what mortal man such as you and I are capable of, so I don't believe you need worry about my intentions for this city or the people here.

I was told there was an arcane fluctuation far to the west, near the cities. I know not what it may be, but my only lead is the tombs that have opened up for adventurers to loot, and to be quite blunt, desecrate.

The reason I sought you out and sided with the queen as opposed to the loyalists is purely out of self-interest, to get the chance to speak to the queen and question why she would allow a tomb to be defiled in such a manner. I suspect the reason is she's actually looking for something, potentially an artifact, and hoping some would be adventurer's might stumble upon it. This is all a loose conjecture but I do believe their to be some greater reason than just impulse, and I aim to find out why.

Which brings me back to you; by exposing the loyalists and where they are hiding and putting an end to their plans I would bolster my repute to someone worth talking with to the queen as opposed to a random stranger, and you are my reference for that, assuming things go according to plan.

You may use this information how you please, I would hope a man of your stature would be able to reason that while my loyalties are not to your queen, they are not against your queen either."

As we walk, I detail the location of the building we're heading to, and if I can remember them well enough, the faces of the two guards who indicated they were loyalists to Elliah after we all went in-

(Memory is INT.)
Memory- Success!- You are able to flawlessly recite the location of the two guards, as well as their appearances.

"The tombs..." Varrynn repeats to himself. "Yes, you might be onto something. Your goal seems worthy, friend. I think I'll dispatch a unit to the location you just gave me, and if it turns out you're telling the truth, I'll do what I can to help you. However, afterward I am going to recommend you be exiled from the city." There is no anger in his voice as he says this, only slight embarrassment. "I'm sorry, but we have no-weapon laws for a reason. Someone with your... abilities is too dangerous to have around. Besides, you'll set a bad example for the rest of the people."

"I'm sorry about your weapons, especially that 'Temperate Star'; we'll do what we can to get them back, but I don't have very high hopes. We will of course pay you back for whatever they may have cost you."

"I'll admit, I'm not sure about these 'arcane fluctuations' you mention. You'd think someone would have noticed by now. Still, if it does exist nearby, then the tombs would be a logical place to look."

The two of you arrive at the infirmary, and Varrynn takes care of Toress while you wait outside. He returns in a few minutes.

"They say Toress will be fine, thank the gods, though he'll never see out of his right eye again. If he is a traitor, then it's his just punishment, but if he's not..." Varynn's hand returns to his sword, "...then you'd better hope your dragon king has something nice planned for later."

Without any further ado, he returns to the barracks and does as he promised; a squad of 200 armed men is soon ready to set out to the hideout.

"No one else knows about this," Varrynn informs you as he adjusts the straps on his armor. "If it goes poorly, it would be a black mark on my career. Oh, and do you need weapons or armor of any kind? I don't want you getting yourself killed if there's a fight."

"My weapon is my tongue, sir, by both the flames and the words it can produce.

As for my abilities, I might argue that if this innate ability of mine is considered a weapon and therefore intolerable, then nearly anything else in town can be a weapon ranging from the brute strength of an orc's fist to a broken table leg or beer glass from the tavern to virtually anything.

True there is a difference between a table leg and a sword but if you include my talents to be a weapon then you may as well include choice itself to be a weapon.

*Sigh* But I see your point. If I am to be exiled though, I would still request the chance to speak to the queen about my endeavors beforehand and will quietly leave after. You have my word.

For the fight, a suit of leather and a light crossbow should do fine. My dragons breath won't be suited for a crowded street fight anyway."

Upon entering the inn and finding his companions had left him behind, Ehren immediately realised what had happened. That asherati and her cursed 'purpose', he thought, she could talk her way out of a beehive whilst covered in honey. Seeing the serving girl reminded him she was present when they were planning the mission. He immediately approaches her and, regarless of her current task, turns her to face him.
"The asherati, Shar'ra, where is she?" His eyes were ice, face devoid of emotion. He brought his fist up to her face, and opened it. Lying on his palm was 4gp95sp, the change from the 'fools errand' he had been sent on. "Now, if you please."

Shar'ra

After a servant fetches the arms and armor you requested, Varrynn turns from you and addresses his men. "Alright, everyone; you've already been briefed, so I needn't go into the details. Let's move out!"

(Due to the skewed timeline, I'm gonna wait a bit before continuing this. Ehren and Elliah's group are further behind than you.)

Ehren

Sense Motive- Success!- Even in your enraged state, you can tell that the serving girl is making no attempts to hide her intentions.

"That evil bitch went to the palace after she sent you off on that stupid errand. Said you'd be liability. Your other friends went to the loyalist camp to look for their stuff without you. Westan was the only one who even protested!"

She waves away your money. "I don't want that, as I tried to tell Shar'ra. All I wanted was her promise that my uncle would be safe if I gave her some information, and the psychopath wouldn't even hear me out! Listen, if you're going after her, then I'm helping you do it. I won't rest until she gets her comeuppance."

Now, if theres anymore information you can tell me that may be useful, speak it now, otherwise I must be away. It would also be best if you stayed here. Besides, my quarrel with Shar'ra is seperate from yours, I'd like to keep it that way."
