Daggerfall help!

i have been playing daggerfall for a few days and i need help getting into the thievs guild and i hve the robe to get in, i went to vanford and asked for the guy, i went to his residence and its locked, how can i get in? i need it soon so idont go over the limit, i have went to prison for like 12 days bout 3 times so i need info fast.
