Bad gaming sales

So I don't know if anyone saw this article today,

Gamasutra - News - NPD: May U.S. Retail Game Industry Sales Lowest Since Oct. '06

seems that game sales are sharply down last month.

I just wonder if those numbers are accurate. Last time I checked NPD's numbers did not include sales from Direct Download sites. I think those sales have seriously increased over the last couple of years.

Of course digital downloads are mostly PC, so this report probably does mean that console game sales are down, while not really telling us anything about the PC, but I think if direct download sites released their numbers, you'd see just how many more sales of video games there really are.

Hopefully, this decline in console game sales will mean the developers will finally realise that they shouldn't just cater to the console crowd, and should go back and concentrate on the best gaming platform, which as well all know is the PC.
