TW2: Which Witcher ending did you have?

Post by GawainBS »

Which ending did you have on your first playthrough? Why did you choose those options?
I sided with Iorveth. I found it hopeful that there finally was someone in the world with worthwhile ideals.
Further down the road, I choose to save Triss, since Geralt had promised her they would go for a less eventful life together. (During the bathhouse scene.)
Finally, I let Síleh die. I felt she deserved that. I spared Saskia, though, as she was a victim and too important for a stable North. I hope you can free her in Part III.
In the end, I let Letho go, but only because he helped Yennefer and Geralt with The Wild Hunt.

I stuck with Roche, mostly because I didn't trust Iorveth due to his cooperation with Letho. In chapter 2, I rescued Iorveth from enemy troops and spared Henselt's life. In Chapter III I went after Anais with Roche and gave her to the Temerians because I felt it would be important to maintain the balance of power between the three kingdoms (Redania, Kaedwen, and Temeria). I spared Sile because she wasn't really behind all of it, and had been played by Nilfgaard and Letho, and I spared Saskia because Geralt doesn't kill dragons (or my Geralt doesn't anyway). Finally, I spared Letho because he took care of Yennefer and rescued Triss from the Nilfgaardians. Also, he only agreed to kill the kings because he sought to reestablish the Witcher School of the Viper and bring his friends out of hiding, which is a pretty decent motive in my opinion.

During my first playthough, I ended up with Roche, because he came across as a very likeable character to me. The only thing which I don't like about him though, is his short temper.

As far as other bits and pieces go, I've let Letho go mainly because he was keeping Yennefer away from harm. As far as reinstituting his school goes, Emhyr will just use that to his own ends, I'm pretty certain. I've prevented Roche from killing Henselt, saved Sile, saved the dragon, and went to save Triss. Too bad I couldn't redeem those Nilfgaardian emissaries. They were beyond repair.

Radovid changed much from the first game. I don't know why but I could recognize that insatiable hunger for power in him and thought that there was no real point to save the children who'll get to "rule" the royal garden at best. The worst thing was when he broke all the rules of a peaceful treaty convention and stormed the area with the knights of the Flaming Rose.

On my first playthrough I sided with Roche. I liked his military-special forces setting and then there was Ves too! I just couldn't bring my self to betray him when he was charging the Squirels on the elven garden. I felt then that there was a bond of honour between Geralt and him. Plus Iorveth was striking me as unstable and dangerous. (as every single character i nthe game seems to think so)

On the second act, I let Roche to kill Henselt and I'm sorry that I couldn't gut the pig my self. That felt right for the betrayal, rape and murder that he commited and damn the consequenses, what is right, is right. Plus that made the hunter of a kingslayer, a kingslayer himself, which is deliciously ironic! However I rescued Ioverth, he didn't deserve to be killed by some Kaedweni lowlives, and his existence was necessary to preserve balance in the north.

On the third act, I chose love over politics and I saved Triss from the Nilfgardians. (Although the way that Roche deals with Dethmold on the other path is just precious). I couldn't wait to get my hand on that treasonous ambassador and the rest of the Nilfgardian filth.

Lastly I let Sile live, in exchange of information and I killed the dragon ( I didn't know that it was Saskia on my Roche-playthrough) in order to deprive the rogue sorcerecess of a powerfull weapon.

I killed Letho of-course. He was a vicious killer, he had betrayed the witcher's code by becoming a man-hunter over a monster-slayer AND he was promoting the cause of a dangerous tyrant who had harmed me directly. When you start something, you have to finish it.
