Seeking A Patch

Post by Grimm Reaper »

I'm not sure if I need the official patch(1.2) or one of the unofficial ones, all I know is that my security systems go absolutely crazy whenever I go near the sites offering any of the above patches and block the download.

Help?

Grimm, what anti-virus are you running, and what firewall? I might be able to help a little, if I knew what you are running.

Your anti-virus doesn't like The Patches Scrolls or which sites are you referring to?

Both Patches Scrolls and GameFront.

Currently using Norton and Malware.

Ok, first off, get a copy of either AVG or Avast, and dump Norton. It will not be easy, but I tell people that free is better. Norton still updates once every other week? Or is it up to once a month? Anti-spyware, you can run a variety of things, even at the same time. Malwarebyte's is good, so is Xoftspy, etc. All are good, and will do a ton of work for you.

I just thought of something. Norton doesn't like some sites, and they are false positives. You may want to switch to a different anti-virus.

As to the patch, I recommend the 7.5 one. It's Wesp's latest one, so far, and it includes the 1.2 patch as well.

Dump Norton. Do it. It consume a ****load of resources and doesn't give you that much of protection.

If you're going to pay for an antivirus use Nod32, it is a blessing of an antivirus. For free, use Avast. But dump Norton.

As for patches... well, Unofficial patches ftw

I use Mcafee 3-user suite and PCtools spyware doc and have never had a problem with downloading patches. (I've also never been infected by a virus- cross fingers while typing!)
