Elven Chain...

Post by Jared4224 »

Hello Everyone! :D
I have a question about Elven Chainmail...

Take a class like the archer or another class that can "only use up to Studded Leather". I don't think this makes much sense. Elven Chain is much lighter, & allows more flexibility. My real question I suppose is, is their a mod that allows ALL classes to use Elven Chain? I am currently soloing a Blademaster (Mod) & am about to pick up some elven chain, & would like to actually be able to equip it :(

Thanks in advance!

Thats a good point. It doesn't make sense unless there is something religious about metal. elven chain should be lighter than studded leather. I would think. Ah its jus a game.
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

I tend to give all my characters UAI just for that very reason. Ridiculous limitations.

Thanks Claudius & Stworca!
I am hoping to NOT use any thing like ShadowKeeper to allow use, I just think that SOMEONE has a mod that will allow any class to use elven chain... Now if worse comes to worse I will just make him a pure fighter in BG2 (I'm in Tutu right now).

Extract the file I've attached to your Override folder in your BaldursGateTutu directory.

The zip contains the item files for Chan12 and Chan13, both types of Elven chain. Strangely Archers were the only ones excluded from using them except for shapeshifters, kensai, monks and mages; not sure why, but the files I've attached fix that.

Be aware though that it is possible, if not probably, that the description will be garbled, as our dialog.tlk files almost certainly don't match. This shouldn't have any adverse effect on the game however.

Goddammit
Right, I have extracted both Chan12 & 13 to my override folder, but when I picked up my lovely elven chain it is still unsuable... Anyone else have an idea? :(

Well I'm puzzled, what class are you exactly? As long as you have strength of 5+, and aren't a Monk, Mage, Druid or Kensai there shouldn't be a problem. None of those classes are allowed to wear metal armour of any sort, so I didn't change those, just the archer class you enquired about.

Get NearInfinity and edit the useability restrictions. It's what I did for the exact same reason and it works fine (once you figure out how to use it).
I won't send you my item files 'cos they cause games to crash if the mod setup isn't the same, but with a little practice you'll get the hang of it. Just back up the original item files first is all.
