Wierd problem with Baldur's Gate...

Post by Sramsay12 »

Hey guys, i just got Baldur's gate 1. I installed it and then tried to play it, and it gave me an error- something to do with no valid video modes supported. My laptop's an Asus Eee, with a small screen. I have no widescreen mods enabled and am running on Windows XP.
So please give me a solution to my problem!

I have heard that using Easy Tutu would solve the problem. If i used this, how much free space in total would i need? My hard drive is always full so I'd have to put it on my 4 gig USB. Is that enough space?
And would baldur's gate 1 run like normal when played like this, or would the graphics. classes etc. be like BG2.

And if Tutu is my only option, please give me the links to patches and whatever else i need to download.

Thanks in advance!

In order to use TUTU you need to also have at least a recommended install of Baldur's Gate II installed as TUTU uses the game resources of BGII in order to change BG over to TUTU. You also must have a full install of BG with Tales of the Sword Coast updated to the latest patch. To run the converter extraction you need at least 64 MB of space.

I would try and clear around 5-6 GB of space for Baldurs Gate, BGII and Tutu. You can download TUTU from Pocket Plane Group - Bending Baldur's Gate 2 and the Infinity Engine.

You shouldn't have any problems with it even without Tutu. Firstly do not install it in the standard installation directory whatever installation you use. You will need the official patches. These will vary depending whether you are in the UK, Europe, USA or Canada etc. I think that they are: Throne of Bhaal Patch Version 26498 and bgtosc_uk for the UK, they were available at Bioware, but am not sure if you still can. Try this thread Ironworks Gaming -Baldurs Gate 1 - Patches and Fixes

Tutu or BGT will come in handy later when you might want to try modding the game. It's a great game and well worth the effort!
