In Witcher 1 you could store goods at taverns is there such a thing in Witcher 2? Thanks in advance.

I haven't found it in my two playthroughs so I strongly suspect there isn't one.
If someone by any chance discovers it (or a mod with similar functionality, I'd be happy to know about it.

I've finally started playing The Witcher 2 and shortly after finishing the Prologue and reaching Flotsam found myself overweight. I'm like, "OK. I just need to find the inn and then the innkeeper and offload some of this stuff." But no. I can't seem to find any place to store my excess items. So I come here and find this thread confirming what I've experienced. Hmmm... OK. I guess I'll just have to see how well I can anticipate what items I need to hold on to and what items are OK to sell. I confess myself a bit disappointed at this unexpected change from TW1.

Thanks for that piece of info as it prompted me to review the 1.3 patch change log and discover that you are indeed correct.
3. Item storage has been added. Players can now store items from their Inventory at inns. To leave items in storage or collect previously stored items, talk to innkeepers.
So now to wait for patch 1.3's release. I'll just delete all my saves back to the beginning of Flotsam since I'm not too far into it as I would much prefer being able to store most of my items instead of sell them.

I thought waiting for a couple of patches would be enough to get all the kinks worked out in The Witcher 2 but apparently I was wrong. IIRC it wasn't until CDProjekt RED released the fourth patch for The Witcher that things really came together. On the one hand I appreciate CDProjekt RED's continuing support of their game. On the other hand it leaves me feeling like I'm a late stage beta tester for TW 2.

Storage in Flotsam

Well, I can confirm that after patch 1.3, there is a chest for storage in the inn in Flotsam.

But what I'd like to know is, after act 1, do the contents transfer to the next inn(s) in later acts? Will there be another storage chest in another inn later on, or was this an act 1 thing only? Because before I move on to act 2 again, I want to know if I can count on my stored items being available.

Thanks.

Not 100% sure as I finished the game before the latest patch and thus had no containers, but if I understood the change log and few interviews correctly the change affects whole game, not just chapter 1. And the storage system is exactly similar to Witcher 1. So, from that point, I would say that it's safe to except the content of storage chests to move to next chapter along you.

So I've started playing TW 2 again and applied the 1.3 patch but the change log note I previously posted isn't accurate. Unlike The Witcher, one doesn't talk to an innkeeper to store items. As Greywulf has already mentioned, one accesses a storage chest now. I found the storage chest on the lower level of the Flotsam inn, opposite corner from the monk.
