Can't find specific creatures, NPCs? This may help :)

Post by MrHelpnFix »

Hi! I'm just someone who recently had problem getting further in the story of Baldur's Gate, because of the fact that 2 vital NPCs were missing, and after some hours I actually found a great working solution, that I thought I could share here (if someone still plays BG  and encounters the same or similar problem).

Info: I was in chapter 3 and was searching for Teven and Raiken, in Larswood/Peldvale, to be able to be captured, thus getting the only chance (before the end) to kill Tazok... and going around the Bandit Camp with more "friendly" npcs to talk to :p

Anyhow I didnt find either Teven OR Raiken.
After googling for about 2 hours I found that some people had the same problem. The problem being that you cant let Deke (who is in the map north of Beregost) give you directions to the Bandit Camp (even if you kill him afterwards it wont work)!

The solution that worked perfectly for me was the CLUAConsole. Are You familiar with this? Probably not if you're reading this line ;) Moving on...

You dont have to download anything.
Either you just read this FAQ that is on this link: Baldur's Gate Creature List - IGN FAQs
or (if you're clicking finger is tired) continue reading (it's just copied from the FAQ):
________________
Here's how you create a creature:

Step 1: Open the baldur.ini file, and under [Game Options] add this:

Cheats=1

(Save the file.)
Step 2: Run Baldur's Gate. In the game press CTRL-TAB to bring up a little console. To close the console again, press CTRL-TAB.
You can now enter any cheat you want into this little console window.

Now put this code into the Console window:

CLUAConsole:CreateCreature("yyyyyy")

Where "yyyyyy" is the name of the NPC/Creature that you wish to create.
_______________

In the FAQ (which you should read) I mentioned before is also a list of every NPC/creature that is available to create and the name for it (thou I am quite certain that all exists). There is also (ofc) more cheats, for items and more, but that is covered by other threads on this forum, I am sure.

PS. To deal with this specific problem with Teven and Raiken:
Either spawn one of them and talk them into taking you to the camp OR just summon Tazok.

If you summon Tazok you will have to engage him and nearly defeat him in battle. He will then speak with you and making you an "ally" with them (just as it should be).

Else if you summon Teven (I havent tried Raiken but it should turn out the same) he will walk to you and talk with you the instance you create him.
*IMPORTANT* If you talk him into taking you to their camp the screen may turn blue (it happened for me). Dont worry if that happens. Just make sure that CD nr 4 (disc 4/5) is in your cd-player. Put it in if it isnt and it will work again. DS.

Hope this helps!! :)

If you speak to Teven you will have to fight Tazok until he is badly injured. He will then speak to you and walk away.

If you want his goodies (Including gauntlets of weapon expertise) and the experience for killing him, you have to make sure that he doesn't speak to you. So when he is badly injured don't use melee but use potion of speed to keep away from him so he can't talk to you, plus ranged weapons. I find it best to keep most of the party well away from him so that he only follows one character.

There are other ways of killing him, but that is the simplest.

Yeah, just target him with a ****load of magic missiles when he's about to give up and he'll die right after his second speech.
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.
