Okay, I am a HUGE fan of skill trees and in-depth character customization, but it seems like almost no one counts that as a real category (I don't count RPG for this because RPG is very broad, whereas an actually good skill tree or decent character customization is rare).
Can anyone direct me to a list of games with good skill trees or at least good character customization? If not, calling off ones that come to mind would be helpful.

Titan quest. Specifically the underlord modification.
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

I've never actually played Might & Magic, I've played heroes of might and magic (3-5), heroes of might and magic: quest for the dragonbone staff and champions(crusaders?) of might and magic but never the core series.
How old are 6-7 and what kind of game is it overall?
Also, Titan's Quest is long overdue for me, I've had it for years and I never really played it. I'll give that a go.
I'd love to hear more answers if anyone has any ideas.

MM is a party-based, first person, combat heavy RPG. Plenty of classes to choose, and plenty of ways to develop your characters. VI is from 1998 I think, and VII from 2000? Look for them on GoG.
Wizardry VIII offers even more customisation.
Temple of Elemental Evil & Drakensang don't offer skilltrees per se, but have a very in-depth character development system.
Same deal for Arcanum.

The Infinity Engine games(Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale to name two) offer skill specialization. I recall Divine Divinity having a plethora of skills that could be advanced, and the hack and slash Sacred 1 game let you choose and advance eight different skills. Since I included Sacred 1, I might as well mention Diablo 2.
In regards to the M&M games, they are all over 10 years old with the possible exception of MM9. I checked a different resource and MM6 thru MM8 were all released within a year of each other. So MM8 was 2000, MM7 was 1999, and MM6 was 1998.

I'd rather be part bull than a complete sheep.

If you play TQ I recommend the underlord mod. Its very good especially for skill choices/depth.
edit: additional thought. One thing I like about TQ is that not all characters end up the same like in oblivion for instance.. Or dungeon lords. Sure those have some variation in choices, but the point I am making is that all of the masteries (in TQ) have a distinct role: storm-glass canon nukes, spirit-leaching auras and debuffs for pets, nature- buffs for pets, earth-warrior/mage, hunting-huge piercing damage bow or trap/spear, rogue - crowd control (this is changed to occult in underlord mod), warrior - dealing out assloads of damage, defense - sturdy shield warrior.
I mean you reallly feel awesome when you play a defense character and you can just bash bash bash without a potion. Then you play rogue and you are a very active skill player running around using trickery!
