cleric can't cast HELP

I have a level 7 cleric that can't cast past level five. It shows up on his casting thing but past 5 they are grey and not castable. I also have a wizard with failure casting problems. I have even pulled her armour off and still she has problems.

A cleric can only cast spells of levels that are equal to 10 + N Wisdom.

So, a Cleric with 15 Wisdom can only cast up to level 5 spells, but a cleric with 19 Wisdom can cast up to level 9 spells. Same goes for Wizards (Intelligence) as well as Bards and Sorcerers (Charisma).

Does your Wizard have any status effects, is taking damage or is an anti-magic field?

Thanks, I just realised that. I haven't played this game in a while and I went with one of the already picked groups so I have 2 clerics 1 wizard, one thief and only two fighter and one is an elf. So this has been totally different for me.

casting failure

Any ideas aboaut that? It happens more and more and my wizard is a lousy fighter.

Is your wizard, by chance, using a shield? If so, that will explain the casting failure
