Icewind Dale Games/Books

Post by BowandArrow »

I've been playing through Icewind dale lately and have been wondering if the story line is similar to the novels written by RA Salvator? I believe there is the Icewind Dale Series and the Dark Elf Trilogy. Is the story similar to the games or completely different. Right now I'm on my way to the Severed Hand Tower.

Novels and games have different storyline. The novels are about a character named Drizzt Do'Urden, you might have heard of him...

Yeah, I've heard of him. I was going to read the books along with the games, but since the books are considered cannon to D&D I'll read the books after. THanks.

Welcome to Game Banshee BowandArrow.

I just finished those novels and enjoyed them. This was literally years after playing IWD. I was kind of glad I did it that way as it helped me to really visualize some of the places the book characters were. You will find a few things within the game that are reflected in the books once you read them. But I won't spoil anything.
