Yet another influence question.

Now, I read somewhere that with 0% influence, you can still train your partymembers as Jedi, even though their alignment will be opposite of yours. Does that apply to influence generally? Can you get all of those rewarding conversations with the party members, if you litteraly lose every shred of influence with those party members?

Example: I know that you need a good deal of influence (and skill) with T3 to do the repairs (and you usually need to be a Light sided character for those influence rewards), but let's say that my influence with him/it was 0 or close to it, because I treated him poorly as a Dark side character. Then what? Does that mean he's been threatened enough to be too afraid to refuse me, and then I'll be able to get all the max. influence conversations with him or what?

I could ask the same about pretty much every other character in my party, like Atton, Handmaiden, Diciple or Mira. I'm asking because I've read some influence walkthroughs on the Internet that indicated this, but unfortunately they weren't terribly clear on the subject.
