I accidentally Jan Jansen

Post by sempermaria »

I was stupid enough to cast haste while still in Athkatla, in the middle of Jan Jansen's quest, so the Cowled Wizards teleported in an (as it was not the first time I did that) proceeded to attack me.

In the confusion, I managed to escape the Cowled Wizards by going into Jan's home. Everything was ok, as far as I knew, and just went onto the next stage in his quest line, then promptly went off to the Sewers to look for the The Hidden.

I finished it all up, killed the Githyanki and went back to hand in the quest with Jan. I go up and just barely stopped Anomen from attacking Jan and turned off the AI. Jan isn't attacking me, but he is considered hostile, and I've tried tossing Mental Domination on him, but that doesn't work. I don't have any saves before his quest, so I'm really desperate for a fix of some sort.

I've tried to look for a solution in these forums, but from what I've read, using the CLUA is just about the only solution that was ever considered for accidentally turning an NPC hostile.

Since I'm all out of options (that I know about), could anyone chip in any suggestions how to make him not-hostile again, so I can finish the quest and have him back in my group?

I'm using Vanilla btw. Only mods I have is a Haer'Dalis romance mod. The only cheat I've used, barring the ones I tried to un-hostile Jan, is the money cheat.

I don't think I've downloaded any of the Fix or Tweak packs yet, because the game was initially installed by someone else on my computer.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

I tried to instead kill Jan Jansen and then use the CreateCreature command, however it ends up resetting him completely, (I used all Jan's known codes, JAN12,11,10 and 8). He automatically initiates dialogue with me, peddling his Flasher, and when I end the dialogue from either way (the good response, or the bad response), a second will pass and he will turn hostile and then actually attack me.

Please anyone, help?

Use the console to get him into the party (see this for instructions on hw to set it up).

Enable cheat keys by using the console command CLUAConsole:EnableCheatKeys()

Then put the cursor over Jan and press Ctrl and Q. This will add him to the party. Then use Shadowkeeper to edit Jan.

Under the Character tab you will find an enemy/ally drop down menu, if it says anything but PC, change it to PC.

There's no guaranteeing this will work, and if it does it's possible the quest may still be broken. Hopefully someone who knows more about changing state flags and global variables than me will be able to help if the quest is broken.

I hope this works, it's the only solution I can think of at the moment.
