is it worth becoming red dragon disciple?

Post by shock_day13 »

I am a lvl 4 sorc in NWN and i have not yet put any points in lore so my current lore lvl is 0. so would it be worth going for red dragon disciple? and do red dragon disciples get the same magic spells as sorcs?

As a red dragon disciple you don't gain any spells, essentially you take it if you want to focus on Combat, the class gives your boost to natural AC and nice resistances at later levels and fire breath. In NWN it is better to take it as a Bard (because they suck anyway) and single class a sorceror (because they kick ass in NWN.) The problem with the OC in NWN is that if you start investing in RDD your character will end up pretty gimped until the end of the game (i.e not a very good fighter and a half-assed spellcaster), as the OC only gets you to level 17/18 if you are lucky. If you are going to do HoTU, then a few levels of RDD can be useful. In NWN2, it is better to Eldrich Knight a sorceror, that way you still gain new spells.
