Need help with a 3-character party

Post by Benefactor »

This is what i thought of, but im afriad its not very strong:
Aasimar paladin 2 / sroceress x
Barbarian 2 / druid x
Human Rogue x / Fighter x-1 / ranger 1

I might want to replace both of the last 2 with something better, so any suggestions are welcome. Completely different 3 character party suggestions are welcome too.

The game was created and balanced for a party of 6, so consider this if you haven't played the game before.

For your paladin 2 / sorceress x don't take the paladin levels before you reach sorcerer level 10 or 12, the benefits from the second paladin level aren't as useful as the casting power you loose.

It's definitely not worth taking a second barbarian level for the druid.

Rogue x / fighter x-1 / ranger 1 will get an experience penalty.

I think your party should be able to complete the game succesfully. There might be some parts where the game will be a bit more challenging, though.

kmonster has the right of it.
Some additional points:

Considering the paladin/sorc, taking the paladin levels later is a very good idea. Not only will you be able to cast spells at earlier stages of the game, but I guess your sorc will also serve as the spokesperson for the party?
If so, not having any paladin (or monk) levels during the prologue/act one can actually be very beneficial for the party's finances. :D

From the look of your party setup, you don't have a dedicated tank, but I guess summons will fill that role? Should work very well.

What is the role of the Human Rogue x / Fighter x-1 / ranger 1 supposed to be? Scout? Backstabber? Lockpicker?
Depending on their role, you should shuffle the level distribution around in order to avoid the aforementioned XP-penalties.

:)
