Site problem?

Post by Trickstuf »

Hi,

For about a week now I have been having problems viewing the GB site. When I open a specific game site, all I see is the news feed but nothing specific to the game. The forums are also half cut off; I cannot see the right half of what should be on the screen.

As far as I know I have the latest versions of firefox and IE.

Anybody else experiencing this?

Thanks

These problems are being caused by some seriously bad coding in the adscripts, and have been occurring UGO-wide, specifically for NW-European users. We've been nailing down the problems and reporting them to our hosts and the offending banners should hopefully be pulled, problems like this always take a while to pin down, sadly.

Repeating question of the previous post, because I can't use any aspect of this site. And I really, really, really, really, really miss my GB news. And walkthroughs. And reviews. And databases. Ooh! And those fun little arguments/debates that can get surprisingly heated occasionally in the comments sections of the news articles (and forums).

Did I mention I really miss GB?

This is really frustrating for me, too. I have sent several emails to UGO (our advertising provider) pointing out the issue and have even included specific instructions for where the problem lies in the advertising code, and yet the problem continues. All I can do is send them another email now and hope that they fix it sooner rather than later.

I'm having precisely the same issue with the latest version of Opera.

On the other hand, Chrome loads the pages fine most of the time, but it won't let me reply to posts. Or sometimes, Chrome will simply display the GB banner and nothing else... I'm not sure if this is a related issue or not, but thought I should mention it.

I continue to send emails, but they appear to be falling on deaf ears. I believe there is a pretty significant shake-up going on at UGO since their acquisition by IGN, and that's likely why this remains unresolved after weeks of notifying them.

However, I should also point out that we will be changing ad providers at the end of this month anyway, so this will become a non-issue one way or another. If UGO doesn't fix it before then, please bear with me for a few more weeks.

It seems that the problem has been solved. At least I don't suffer from it anymore, though no adds are shown for me anymore. Perhaps this is due the coming change of adds provider?

Evening. While it seems that the problem has been solved for some users, it unfortunately still persists for me. I haven't been able to see absolutely anything on the website for about 2 or possibly more months now. The peculiar thing is that a few days ago the site seemed to work perfectly, but when I checked the next day, the problem reappeared.

I sincerely hope that the issue will be resolved once the ad provider is changed.

I honestly wonder if I'm the only one. Aside from the few posts above, it seems that nobody else is bothered.

Still not working for me either. Didn't even get a brief period where it was. Just out of curiousity, who would need to be horribly maimed for this to get fixed?

...I'm just curious... I swear... No evil intent behind that question at all... Really... Non... Nada.

I also am still having site problems. Over Christmas I was on vacation in the US and Game Banshee was working fine, but at home in Canada it doesn't work properly.

I've also had this problem for a few months. Strange part is it works on my computer at work (Windows XP) but not on my computer at home (Windows 7, IE9). Although at work I usually have to refresh the page a few times to get things to come up properly.
