problem

Post by v1knomaz »

i installed sw:kotor a few moments ago, and it doesn't want to work. the installation was perfect, the patch update to version 1.3 also perfect. my laptop runs with windows 7, fully updated.
when i click the GAME button, i get the following:

http://desmond.imageshack.us/Himg99/scaled.php?server=99&filename=capturethk.png&res=medium

the game used to work perfectly a few years ago on my older computer, which had windows XP.

i am sad :(

Try googling "Knights of the Old Republic Win 7 64". 64 or 32, depending on your version of course.

I've got KOTOR 2 installed on my laptop, only problem I've encountered was having to disable movies as they were causing problems.

I did install in a directory I created in the root directory myself, installing anything, especially games in the Program Files (x86) folder is a big no no, this leads to too many 'administrator' problems.

The other issue I've had with KOTOR games in the past were related to having on board graphics as opposed to a dedicated graphics card, the games really do not like shared graphic memory.

Can you please tell how you made the mouse working? Might be handy for future reference. Glad to have been of help.

i quit the game with the help of the task manager.
i restarted the game again, just to check if the mouse problem would appear again, but it was and is gone.
so the mouse problem wasn't really a problem, but just my computer being crazy for a minute :D

what does everybody think of heavy armour for a Jedi? xD
or should i just stick to light armour and robes? or is it a good idea to go with heavy for a while in the earlier stages of the game? (which would require me to pick the heavy armour feat as the scout can only wear light and medium armour)

If you have to pick a feat for it, don't! Especially as a Jedi, when any armour except robes blocks usage of the best Force Powers.

Unless of course that is exactly what you want to make. A character that is not a Jedi. You can perfectly well finish the game with it. :)
