Hey everybody,
First of all, please forgive me if my English isn't that good.
Secondly, I also ask your forgiveness if another thread answers my question. I used the search function but couldn't find the right one.
So here is my problem/question. I think I need a new hard drive real soon and I want to create a backup of my save file.
Is there a way to copy some files to another folder, USB flash drive etc.? So when I reinstal NWN2 on the new hard drive I can simply copy these files back and carry on with the campain.
I tried this once but got a lot of errors and I think I got the wrong files.
Question about creating a backup of my save file
The save files location is dependent on your operating system..THJKNL wrote:Hey everybody,

I have Vista, for me it's:
(user name)/documents/ Neverwinter Nights 2
You should see a "Saves" file in that listing and that's where your saves are. You can save that entire file, or the particular files in the "Saves" file that you are interested in.
Obviously on the new installation of NWN2 you need to place the files in the same location.
Generally your character is saved as part of module/campaign..THJKNL wrote:And what about my character? Is he/she included in those folders?
HOWEVER, it can also be saved as an export file - and while I *think* it's in the "Saves" folder, I'm not entirely sure.
In any event, as long as you have a saved game (again, part of a module/campaign), then you can always open up that game again (via "Load" from the game menu), and once inside it *export* that character for use in another module/campaign. (To use it in another game would require starting a a new game and "selecting" this character (that was exported) instead of "creating" a new character).
Those saved games should appear as a file described something like:
6 digit number with a dash and then the name you used for that save.
For the Autosave it should be:
000001 - Auto Save
