Final battle help (spoilers)

Post by Excalibur_2102 »

Hey guys,

I have the ascension mod installed, and Im struggling with my party setup as soon as I get into the throne area at chapter 10.

Basically my party is:

Me (Paladin)
Jaheira
Minsc
Keldorn
Imoen

I know its not a powerful setup, but I like these characters and ive overcome everything with them so far. The problem is my mage imoen gets changed into the slayer so Im left with 4 melee against irenicus bodhi and a slayer..I can cast some buffs before the fight but its still tough.

Also solar mentioned leaving a party member at the pocket plane so you have a free space.. I have done it, but is it worth doing this?? I used Jan before and hed obv help with my lack of mage? any help appreciated

I have beat this encounter with a somewhat similar setup.
Cavalier protagonist
Sarevok (I love me some Minsc, but Sarevok is just awesome with Ascension)
Keldorn
Jaheira
Imoen
Aerie
I did have Balthazar to help me though, if you don't you may want to reload and get him to help you.

What I did was melee rush Irenicus while having Aerie continuously removing his spellprotects with Breach. I believe having that spell is absolutely crucial to your success, so you may want to consider another mage party member.

Irenicus just deals tons of damage and if you aren't able to defeat him quickly he'll take you down long before you're done with Bodhi and friends :( I don't recall any line about leaving a party member or what good that might do I'm afraid.
Sage plays a paladin,
because other classes would be frowned upon for laying their hands on a wounded companion
