Hi folks. I've been playing IWD 1 for the past few weeks, playing on a Win7 64bit machine, and everything had been working perfectly up to then until I got past the lower Dorn's Deep area. Now, very frequently when I load a save, and more frequently a quick-save, the game will crash to the desktop with no error.
I delete the cache and the "default" folder in the MPSAVE folder (someone suggested it) whenever it crashes, and it seems to help, but the crashes keep happening. It makes it very hard to have a smooth game experience.
I've tried fiddling around with the cache size, changing between 16,24, and 32 bit graphics, running as admin, using XP compatibility, and everything else, no luck.
The saves are NOT corrupted as I can simply delete the cache and such, get back in the game, and load the save just fine. I'm also using the latest update for IWD1.
If anyone has some ideas as to what could be causing these crashes, I sure would appreciate it.

What happens when you try to run the games in Compatibility Mode between Windows 2000 and Windows XP SP3?

Wow thanks! I tried 2000 and it didn't work, BUT I then tried XP SP2, and it worked perfectly, I can load regular saves and quicksaves many times in a row, and it won't crash anymore.
I greatly appreciate it.
EDIT: Darn it. It's crashing again now, and the weird thing is, it seems to have a certain escalation about it. First it was fine, and I had no crashes saving or loading anything, then it started crashing when loading quick-saves, then when loading auto-saves, then when actually quick-saving at all, and finally when loading some regular saves. This is really annoying, I'm so close to finishing this game too.
