Unofficial Patch 8.0 beta updated!
Unofficial Patch 8.0 beta updated!
Because of the improvement of the Python code basic/plus patch switching in the UP 8.0 beta there were some issues with both versions. These should now be fixed in the updated beta 2, which can be downloaded from the usual link. It also fixes problems with the clan specific idle animation and as a bonus includes two new disciplines, namely Blood Theft restored instead of Blood Salvo and limited Presence options in dialogue for Bujah and Toreador!
U r da best man cant resist to play the plus version now that the Tremere are able to use Dominate, still I'm wondering, how is the Tremere's Dominate different that that of the Ventrue's ? and is putting Ex into Dominate (I wont use it in combat at all) worth it for further effectivity or it doesn't make any difference whether u have rank 1 or 5 ? (and how this formula fares for Ventrue)
Tremere Domination only works on the first level, so it is not necessary to put XP into it if you don't want to use it during fights. Ventrue Domination works on all levels so you get more options, after all it is one of their specific advantages!ezdaha wrote:I'm wondering, how is the Tremere's Dominate different that that of the Ventrue's ?
I played as a Ventrue before and i felt Domination while undoubtedly the funniest option, was not as strong as it should be, for example i couldn't use it against the Giovanni candidates to make them spill their beans, while in the cannon only mortals with iron will (very strict persona, religious fanatics like the leaders of the Leopold society) can resist it, and it should work on vampires of lower generation with no problem, there are few case of Domination on vampires i can remember (well its 4 years ), since the NPC is of 8th gen, he should be allowed to pretty much bust anyone in the late game using the 5th rank of the discipline, at least in the dialogueWesp5 wrote:Tremere Domination only works on the first level, so it is not necessary to put XP into it if you don't want to use it during fights. But isn't that kind of the point of being a Ventrue? Other factions should generally view you favorably in their dealings, even if they distrust you. Domination should be extremely usable in conversation, but it should be offset by the blood cost, which is harder to maintain since Ventrue can only drink noble blood.
Maybe the real problem is that it's still too easy for Ventrue to manage their blood supply? Noble blood could be made rarer.

In purely practical terms, of course - and if confided only to their childer - the Ventrue's weakness is their particular taste. Each Ventrue will have their own personal preference for their feeding-vessels: Blondes, lawyers, people with green eyes, and so on. This preference is set shortly after a fledgling's Embrace, upon their first solo feeding, and the Ventrue will then be unable to digest blood from any victim besides their "type." They'll be able to ingest non-type blood, but will gain no benefits from it and will have to vomit up the vitae at some later point.
The problem is that the people with the most ridiculous ideas are always the people who are most certain of them.
yeah some cannon rules are pretty much unbalanced in nature, (and even in supernatural xD) still getting rank 5th of the discipline can be pretty costy and i think its full advanced power should be the counterpart of the 9th persuasion or something like that, its currently like 6th or so i guess.Wesp5 wrote:This is probably true but then it would make the game extremely easy for Ventrues which Troika might have intended to avoid.
but the hardest thing here is creating the new dialogues, the unoriginal voice overs and how funny it would be to compare it to that of the original actor/actress. xD
As Curry said, It's a little bit hard to implement it on game, maybe only the ghoul and the girls at bar (male toreador style ?) but that would be a little bit shallow and unfulfilling, but still an optionTricky wrote:But isn't that kind of the point of being a Ventrue? There's a few at the hotels and night clubs I guess. But it might make sense if some of the combat zones have a noble blooded npc here and there. The nosferatu sewers.. probably not so much.
I think another factor that cannot be overlooked is the Ventrue's penchant for business and moneymaking (outmatched perhaps only by the Giovanni). They should *much* more than any other bloodline be able to buy any kind of expensive blood (elder, noble blue) directly from the blood bank. I think this is already reflected in the game by their preferred skills.
So high discipline usage equals being rich. Makes sense. If you're not going to be strong in mellee/ranged combat either way, what else are you going to spend all that money on?
