hi everyone

Post by Serpent Rider »

Just want to salute everyone on this forum, it took me a while to find a community for this game( that i think its great imo).
I started playing Dungeon lords CE 1 week ago and after making my char an adept and got to Arindale, i thought about starting a new char, an archer, since they r my all time fav roleplay class, and after that i looked on the net and found this forum.
I want to ask u guys and girls , who have more xp than me on this game about a good archer/fighter build since there r so many classes and heraldris to choose from.
thank you :)

Female elf - ranger/monk

Monk and ranger have skill bonus overlap so you save your xp points to focus on celestial magic, armor, hawkeye, ninjitsu. Save up points for things that really makes a difference. And monk/ranger lord have huge overlap in requirements.

Ninjitsu is one of the best even better than dual wield I think.

And then for ranged ranger lord has +25% damage! the hunter quest gives a horn with +200 speed and some other things. Speed is only capped in the display, at least as I tested archery.

Put your money into lightning scrolls and the defender angel spell, forgot what it is called. The defender angel is unbelievable against tough enemies like the huge scorpion and the dragons. I think the defender angel is more powerful dps than cataclysm.

There is actually only one archer class - Hunter -> Ranger Lord in the Thieves Guild - and it is the worst choice. All ranged weapons are weak, extremely weak. You will end up with melee weapons and magic, but your heraldry will give you useless bonuses to a ranged combat.

Ranger Lord is not as bad as some people make it out to be, though it is one of the weaker classes. I'm currently trying out a Fighter/Samurai with my Ranger Lord. At least then you will have a dual wield to back up your bow. Hope that helps and hope you have fun with it.

Ranger Lord isn't weak paired with monk. You have a lot of advance points saved because monk/ranger lord overlap on prerequs.

You get diversity in attacks. Difficult fights summon the angels spell from celestial and then kite at range. Also you can switch weapons for a ranged attack and then switch to melee.

Ever fight those red ninjas with ranger lord +25% damage and hawkeye? They are much easier than with ninjitsu. With the hunter horn your attack speed is +200 which is uncapped although capped on the display.

Another example is the naga temple where hawkeye kicks in quite a bit dropping the nagas before they get to you.

Kiting is never a bad thing in a dangerous fight is my final say. Oh and the angel spell is awesome with you sitting back and ranged.

I recenly played through with a Ranger Lord/Adept/Valkyrie and tried to stay true to the ranged combat role. The Ranger heraldry, Brim's horn and hawkeye make the bow a somewhat viable option. I chose Valkyrie to stack the pole bonus for alternate weapons and Adept for the magic weapon skill. I will say this was not the most enjoyable class combo I've played.

I'm curious, did you try the divine intervention with sniping?

Yeah some, was a good tactic with the fire drakes for that character. I don't use many summons in general because they catch a lot of AOE which I would normally avoid.

One of my goto spells early is summon rat. Take about 3 points in nether magic and you can summon five or so rats each cast. It breaks the formation sort of of mixes of warriors and casters such as borogrim soldiers and wizards. Doesn't do as good in the vale of ruin however.

Rats makes the second tier ascension battles easy. 100 summon rat, kill the fodder and then put the boss in stun lock with rats.
