Weapon Proficiencies
I've played through IWD 1 and now I am about to venture into the second however I do not know which weapons my characters are best with? On the first IWD you can see a list of their weapon proficienices but not on the 2nd. So how do i know which weapons to equipped my party?
You can actually see that on the character screen.
It lists the profiencies for each character under the "Skills and Feats" tab. You may have to scroll down, but the available profiencies are listed under "feats".
It should read something like "Simple Weapon, Crossbow: 1", whereas the number refers to how proficient a character is with said weapon.
Or in other words, how many feats you spent on them.
"1" means your character is proficient with a weapon (i.e. they receive no malus if they use one). You get this depending on the character's class(es); e.g. a sorcerer will receive proficiencies for some simple weapons, a fighter for all simple and martial weapons.
"2" means you spent a feat on that weapon (called "weapon focus") and receive +1 to your attack bonus when attacking with a weapon of that kind.
"3" means your character has at least for levels of fighter under their belt and was therefore able to chose the "weapon specialisaion" feat, which gives them +2 damage to attacks with a weapon of that kind.
Makes sense now?
