Coming back for another solo run.

Post by Sanestar »

Alright. So it's been quite some time since I last played SoA + ToB and thought I'd give it another play through since I love the game so much. I was there for the release of these fantastic games and it still holds the spot of 'Favortie game'.

So, my very first full solo was done with a bard, more specifically a Skald. Why a Skald? No idea, but it was fun and early on was quite the challenge. I played through both SoA and ToB completely, and even did the Watchers Tower (that's the right name right? o.o). I was pretty happy being able to do so much on a bard, but I guess I'm just not satisfied yet.

I've never mod'ed any of the BG games, but I guess I never really looked at what the mods had to offer. So I guess what I'm asking for is how to give myself more hard fights (through mods or not) and/or quests. I plan to play a bard again just because I love the class so much. I also plan to play on the hardest difficulty setting the game has to offer (digging my own grave, but should be fun).

Any suggestions are welcome! The more options I have, the better. I want to have the game pound the crap out of me this time. Please give your thoughts and ideas, and if you do so, thank you in advance. Cheers~

Ascension + SCSII is my personal preference for difficulty mods. The latter is huge, with a wide variety of different options beyond simply enhancing the AI and such. It's not too unfair to the player in terms of what it allows your enemies to do and the challenges it throws your way - my only real problem with it is that casters can become a bit monotonous to fight due to overusing many of the same spells, e.g. chaos.

I had to play around quite a bit with SCSII before finding a good balance between difficulty and fun, but it really adds depth to the combat. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the very fast response, Blomdor =D I've been reading the forums all night and it does sound like Ascension + SCSII makes a good combo (though atm I have little to no knowledge of them). I'll look into them perhaps tomorrow and see what I can do.
