Thieves guild and fighters (spoiler)

Post by Claudius »

I want to see most of the content and I have read http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Morrowind:Code_Book
that sottilde will not give her code book if I am a member of the thieves guild. I want to do all the content of both.

I couldn't understand the wiki other than that the problem would be avoided if I were not (yet) a member of the thieves guild.

So my understanding is I can

1) pickpocket sohilde, but I am combat mastery and I'll have to train alot.

2) Complete the bittercup quest and report back to gentleman Jim Stacy. I'm totally not sure if that was right because I couldn't understand the wiki.

I tried asking for orders twice when I got the quest, but it didn't work. The wiki said something I understood that should work.

Anyone lend a hand??

There are several ways of addressing this issue. My personal favourite is to complete the entire Thieves Guild first, and then start doing the Fighter's Guild quests. This will negate the conflicts... However, you will miss a small amount of content, nothing all that major though.

Ah, nice. Unfortunately I have already completed a lot of the Thieves guild quests and am a member.

But it looks like it will be a long time to raise my thieves skills and by that point I can probably manage, with reloads, to pick pocket the code book. I have 100% chameleon available, though I am unsure how much security/sneak I will need.

Thanks, though.

i have found using an invisibility spell will allow you to steel 1 item without an issue
even when it does go away when you touch something iv found you always grab the item before the removle of the spell for touching it.
Blood drips, blood sings, blood devours all and only blood remains..
for those of you who know where this is from my hats off to you lol :-)

You can do the first 3 quests from Eydis. The code book is the 4th. If you happen to be a thieves guild member already before joining the fighter's guild, then only do those 3 and then perform some thieves guild tasks. Raise your rank until you're able to talk to jim stacey, although stacey has also the bal molagmer quests which starts at a lower rank. But the quest you want to have is the Bitter Cup. Offering the bitter cup to Eydis will skip the code book quest.
An other route is to first join the FG, then do the quests from eydis and when receiving the code book quest do that, retrieve the book, but join the thieves guild before turning the book to eydis.
