Help BG2

Post by BowandArrow »

Im at the beginning of BG 2, I'm currently doing the Windspear Hills Quest where I search for the kidnapped boy in the caves. However, every enemy I encounter seems to be immune to my weapons, i have +1 weapons and a +3 axe. Where can i find better weapons this early in the game?

+3 weapons can damage everything but one enemy in soa, so the problem is somewhere else.

which enemies are you talking about specifically?
+1 weapons can hit the majority of enemies in the game, only a few need +2 and even fewer need +3
sometimes it's not the enchantment on the weapon but the type of damage that monsters are resistant to. for example clay golems can only be damaged by blunt weapons.

For my advice, if you haven't already, stay around Amn a little more before going to Windspear. Particularly in the slums, there are a number of easier quests that offer some nice loot. The De'Arnise Keep is also a good questline for lower-level parties, and the Umar Hills should still be a little easier than Windspear.

Hope this helps!

Thanks guys. I have a +3 axe but none of my characters are proficient with it. I faced Ruhk the Transmuter and beat him and now some Golem is kicking my butt. Think I will take the advice and do some easier quests first.

If I remember correctly that area has an Adamantine Golem. You really need blunt weapons to kill him. A good staff should do the job. You can get him stuck in the entrance to that area and just have someone with a staff hit him. A staff has long enough reach where you can hit him, but he won't be able to hit you.

Magic missiles work well too, though you'd need a lot of them.

I would agree with other's though. Windspear is probably one of the harder quests in Chapter 2. I usually leave it to last.

pretty much every area in the game has some enemy needing +3 weapons. Most notably golems, yes. Getting +3 weps is moderate-high priority. Ribald sells a +4 staff, the central tavern has a +3 great sword lying somewhere. Helping Nalia with her quest gives such a weapon too.. The Axe you have, would that be a Battle Axe +3: Frostreaver? If thats the case check Nalia's Stronghold again for a surprise weapon.

i dount he is facing a adamantite golem. the golems scale with level and the adamantite one is the high level one, being the strongest golem in SOA
he is probably fighting a stone golem
both of those have the same weapon requirements to get hit, but the adamntite one also has VERY high resistances against damage
stone goleme need +3 or better to get hit
you have a +3 axe, i suggest you use that one, proficient or not. give it to a fighter/ranger/paladin to minimize the penalty. make up with buffs for teh rest. bless, chant, haste, strength potions, you have a lot of choice

In Windspear Hills there is 1 Adamantite Golem that always spawns, no matter your level. It in on the second level of the dungeon in the secret room.

ah right, that one
i was thinking of the first golem encounter, much earlier
if he has a weapon to pass a stone golem, he can hit the adamatite one as well. so i still think he is refering to the stone golem
that adamantite is easy, as long as you have some kind of ranged +3. all you need is patience :p

but for either, use your +3 axe if you have nothing else, even if your fighter isn't proficient. just make sure to buff him adequately
