Annoying combat

Post by GawainBS »

During my recent replay, I got annoyed by the stupidity of most combat: either it's hack & slash, or you can virtually perpetually stunlocked by the enemy. Pretty cheap, IMO.

Shields and potions of air are your friends. If desperate, you can also bring up the escape menu to allow a negative effect to wear off.

Do you mean blocking with a shield SWC? It's kind of fun to learn the game as a pioneer, but I get frustrated when I find I allocated points to something 'pointless' (pun intended)
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.

Yes. When you block with your shield, spells don't affect you, so blocking makes some fights much easier. However, I think shields are like all of the other armor skills, and you don't need to put points into them.

The "Esc until it fades" trick no longer works, nor do Potions of Air vs Cloud Attacks.

My point was rather that it testifies of very uninspired design to make combat a stunlock-fest. The quest for Monk of annoying, as the Ninja had Shurikens of Winter, so I was almost always frozen.

Oh man, that is game breaking unless they adjusted the durations of the status effects. Gamebreaking :(

The first game you could beat it without allocating any adv points, well somebody did that. This game the fireball of the ancient destroys me because my potion/spell is on cooldown/mana.

The "esc until it fades" trick works just fine. It doesn't work with the character screen, but it works with the save screen.

Then I'll have them mixed up. It makes things a bit more bearable.
