Shadow Reaver help (Act III *spoilers*)
Shadow Reaver help (Act III *spoilers*)
Hey guys. Need some help again. For some reason after I reforge the sword, I can't kill the second Shadow Reaver. Ammon Jerro says "Hold him off while I say his true name" and then I fight the Reaver for like twenty minutes. The only problem is he never dies. I take out all his minions and then fight him but Ammon never says his name like on the first Reaver? How can I fix this? I even left the game for like a half hour with them fighting and the only thing that changed was most of my party was dead. It says he is "near death" but he never actually dies? Is there an override for this? Or did anyone else have this problem? Thanks!

AJ should have a scroll in his inventory. You need to have him use the scroll on the reaver. Then you should be able to kill it.

Don't mind if I dig up another thread.
Is it just me or does it take 2 rounds for the scroll to be read?
I had to reload 3 times before I cleared the 3 reavers on such a narrow bridge.
It seems that the cleric reads the scroll in 2 turns. The warlock... can't really tell from his animation.
Should it take so long?!

In the end, everything will be alright. If it is not alright, it is not the end.

Depending on party makeup and play style, you may want to start incantating early, and defend the incanter, or you might want to clear out most/all but the reaver and then have the party be more able to distract/focus on the reaver while the incanter does his thing.

I find that the most annoying thing in the fight is that you're totally surrounded. One of the better things to do might be to make use of Ammon to help in the battle and clear out most of those things coming from behind. A few well placed mass area effect spells tend to work well. When the fighters are engaged with the golems, either Ammon (or Zjehavie I believe) can actually use the incantation on the reaver, so use who ever is more available before engaging it at all.
Thanks fellas. I thought I was doing something wrong.
In the fight against the 3 reavers, I left AJ behind to deal with the one behind the bridge. Z was to deal with the other two who was in front.
It took so long for Z to read the thing, I lost 4 compansions. Kinda frustrating. Against Garius, Z was trapped behind a field. AJ was distracted and I realised that Garius need not have his true name read out.

Still not working
Though Ur advices were of sound logic, the prob persists. Even now, i m in control of AJ "casting" the true name and as i am typing, i hear how nothing happens.
The thing is: when i activate the scroll, only a star appears in the upper action menu, and AJ is doing a small scroll reading gesture, and that's it. Nothing more. The scroll does not activate.
I do hope someone can help me out.
Kill spell, wake up call for AJ, something

As far as I remember once the * is up that is him reading it, if there is not a lot of noise you can normally hear the incantation, but it is similar to reading a scroll, if something breaks his concentration you are back to square one. It is also best to directly control Ammon Jerro or Zhjaeve for this or turn off the AI once he/she starts casting. Sometimes it has taken me more than once to get them to do it, just make sure no-one interferes with them and use lots of area of effect spells and buffs to defend the party and if you have them both in the party have them both do the incantation to take down one enemy at a time!

Yeah, the star and Jerro holding the scroll means he is currently using it. He takes time to finish the incantation and cannot be disturbed as he is doing so.Daremyth wrote:The thing is: when i activate the scroll, only a star appears in the upper action menu, and AJ is doing a small scroll reading gesture, and that's it. Sorry for reviving old threads, but I have same problem as Daremyth, I have both Zhjahve and Ammon Jarro in my party fight shadow reaver in west harbor, as main character, and khelgar keep attacking the reaver, I've turn off the retarded AI,I have both of them Zhjahve and Ammon far from the battle.
I have both of true name scroll activated, when I casting the scroll * action showed up and after 3/4 full and it's gone, like nothing happened, the log just showed "Zhjahve used special item" or such and no lights like before.
I've casted so many times I missed my calculations after an hours of the fight, at least 50 times, and yes you read it right, yet the reaver hasn't dead or gone, it's status is nearly dead but I waited for another 30 minutes, still nothing happens.
Did I missed something? Or something should happen to the reaver?

I think if you give the speakers too many signals it interupts them. It shouldn't be a problem if Khelgar hits them though he cannot kill them. Also if the speakers/scroll casters get damaged it would interupt their casting of the spell. Are you casting the scroll through the 'hot bar'?
Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.
I used them one by one not altogether, as the execution of the scroll normally takes 30-36 seconds, and yes I turn off the AI and take them away from the battle, with khelgar and my main char (dual wield) keep striking the reaver nonstop, so he rarely cast any spell. I cast i through hot-bar and item menu, both of the ways have same result, 3/4 spell full then nothing happened.
Does the caster of the scroll get hit in combat?
