de'Arnise Keep and Nalia (SPOILERS!)

Post by NocturneN »

Okay, I just did the quest where Lord Roenall comes by. As this is rather personal to Nalia (obviously), I decided to ditch Imoen temporarily to see what Nalia would say, but, ironically, she didn't have anything to say about it at all...she DID speak up when I selected the option to give the keep away, though it would've been quite strange if she didn't.

Now I'm divided; should I keep Nalia around for the keep (no fun intended) quests? Does she have alot of comments to make? Because if not I may just keep Imoen instead, seeing as I like her better than Nalia. Currently I have Nalia standing next to the Major-domo in the keep, would that allow her to comment even though she is not in the party (I remember Jaheria did once at the docks).

Oh and, please, avoid spoiling anything if you can and I'd be much obliged! Never got this far in this questline before. :)

Minsc- Pirate Lord? Such a name does not conjure images of righteous behavior. Stand still a moment and let Boo have a look at you.

If you keep Nalia in your party - then there is a lot more to the whole De'Arnise keep and Lord Roenall thing. Normally it is possible to complete most of this side quests before rescuing Imoen. I would recommend if you want to make the most of Nalia as a companion - to use Shadowkeeper to change her to a single class thief as that way she is not made obsolete by Jan and Imoen, who are better imo.

The thing is that I don't actually like Nalia very much, personality-wise as well as gameplay-wise. As for party strategy I always take the characters that I LIKE, regardless of how useful they are; for example, if thinking stricly from a gameplay perspective I'd ditch Imoen for Jan in a heartbeat. It was always my plan to simply ditch Nalia for Imoen once I had gotten her back - which I did. I DO sympatize with her situation, though, but unfortunately, I've rescued Imoen already, as that is a character that I really like. It's good advice for my next playthrough, alas I've gotten too far on this character to go back.

In regards to your information I think 'twould be best to simply take Nalia back and ditch Imoen, for now, as much as it ails me. Thank you. :)

Well, it's been some 11 days ingame since Lord Roneall's threats, but nothing has happened. Well there was a minor incident with a maid at the keep, but, nothing regarding the Roenalls. Do I simply need to keep waiting?

Furthermore, I have never raises the taxes so far, I'm wondering what impact does that have on the keep? Right now everybody loves me, so I was thinking raising the taxes for, like, a week wouldn't really hurt anybody, eh?

Hang in there. You will get an encounter with Lord Roenall before too much longer. Raising taxes will only bring a pittance more cash but cost you popularity. You will get far more money from most encounters. The keep is just not a money maker. Raising taxes is not worth it IMHO.
