Dragon's Eye Chests, running out of options

Post by Novos »

Brief intro, soloing with a sorcerer. I can't budge the chests with the ropes. I managed to find 2 potions of master thievery, combined with the 2 I bought from oswald, they do stack but I still cant do it. I've also found a potion of storm giant strength which increases my already high strength by 7, still cant force it.

Anyone got any tips?

Which chest exactly can't you open and why do you think there are several ropes in it ?

Theres a cluster of chests on level 1; one of them contains the first of 4 ropes needed to escape. Theres another chest(one) by that guy's corpse, that contains the second of 4 ropes. Its those 2 I cant get; in fact cant open any of them. Unfortunately I cant find any knock spells anywhere.

Thanks for the reply,

Rope is found at 12.

This is just to make sure you're looking in the right locations. If memory serves, none of these chests should be locked.

Nonetheless, have you tried looking for the Knock spell at the Kuldahar merchants? If you still can't find it, you can try to level up so that you can pick that spell up.

In the heavily locked chests in the SW of level 1 there's combat equipment, if you free the prisoners before the main battle they will open those chests, equip the weapons and armor and help you fighting. If they die you can take the stuff from their corpses but it's quite worthless.
You're not supposed to open those chests at all.

hmmm,

Dragon's eye level 1: 2 Chest is locked

Dragon's Eye level 2: 2 Chest is locked.

These chests do have a rope in them, and are unopenable. This is stupid... My character is maxed on strength (@ char creation) and should be able to crack this. My mage is level 20, I doubt I'll be getting the chance to pick up knock any time soon, and no1 is selling it. :( :( :(

Thanks for the help though people :)

I've had trouble with finding all the ropes myself, even with the guide. I think one of the times I did DragonEye I was wondering if the guide is wrong or something.

Just continue on without the ropes until you get to the top of Dragon Eye, if you still haven't found them then cheat yourself the ropes in the editor, like you already did to cheat up your strength.
Remember, being Evil in Baldur's Gate 2 is VERY fun...

sheemish sells knock spells. the NPCs (Conlan, Sheemish, Nathaniel, Jermsy) will be found guarding kuldahar.
Used the console to create a potion of master thievery (sold by Oswald Fiddlebender). Found that the hemp rope in the chest is the same as those sold in The Wandering Village. No wonder I have read walkthroughs that mention buying 5 in the Wandering Village.
