Face improvement mods that aren't.. you know..
I never really bothered with them in Oblivion because they made everyone look way prettier and model-like than you might expect to see in a medieval sort of world. Now again Skyrim seems plagued by largely the same collection of mods. There should be dirt on people's faces and there shouldn't be any duckface at all, period (there is probably more to it than that). Have any of you encountered any mods that erm.. 'keep to the setting' in such a way?

Hi Tricky,
have you looked at Xenius' Character Enhancement (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2356) ? This is the complete mod, you can also just use certain parts; simply look at his profile for the individual mods. I have installed:
Detailed Faces
Detailed Lips
No More Blocky Faces
I am also using:
Natural Eyes (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/3589/?tab=3&navtag=/ajax/modimages/?user=0&id=3589)
Smoother Faces for Female Dark Elves (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/18596)
Pony Tails for Elves (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/699)
Less Harsh Elves (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/369)
I also dislike the glamorous face and hair mods that seem so popular, and I find the above combination improves the original models while remaining fairly true to the feeling of the game. They probably still look a bit pretty, but it is not over the top, and they still fit into their environment.
You'll notice I have quite a few elven cosmetic mods. In my view Bethesda went a touch overboard in their depiction of Bosmer and Dunmer, the latter especially. (IMO Altmer are fine) I feel that the Dunmer should aesthetically represent the hardship they have experienced, but there was no need to make them all look quite *that* haggard. That is just my PoV though, and the neat thing about the above setup is that you can cherry pick what appeals to you.
Here is a screenshot of my Bosmer Rogue. I think she is pleasing to the eye, but she still looks like an elf, and she doesn't look as though she just stepped out of a beauty salon:

That's pretty nice, DW. I think I'll have to settle for that one. Thanks for recommending it.
I like the new Dunmer. In Vanilla Morrowind (I'm not even touching Oblivion on this) some of them looked quite.. well, rather unlike the other races. Better Faces was nice, but not always in line with the original artwork. In particular, it made the Altmer and Dunmer faces seem rather similar. Then Oblivion came and really made the differences between the races moot with the genericness of FaceGen and the extremely limited voice acting. So even if the art is different now, it felt nice to see them take up that same place in the world again.
