Game Crashing when going up stairs

Post by Maria White »

Okay I just got this game today, I bought it http://www.amazon.com/Planescape-Tormen ... planescape there. It installed perfectly and I played it until near the end of the mortuary where I need to find the crocked finger. I saved, turned it off and later came back to play. Only when I tried to go down stairs the game crashed. "No biggie" I said, and I just tried again. After the fifth time I started a new game thinking that, perhaps the save file was messed up. No go. I'm using windows vista and it says right on the box that it is compatible. (I think they released a updated venison like they did with diablo two)
I found some patches and did those, but it didn't do anything at all. I've spent the last three hours looking for ways to fix it, downloading fixes and trying to go up stairs again. I think it maybe a problem with the auto save? But no one else seemed to have the same problem as I did, they all had this problem later in the game. Which is why i am coming here and posting this.
First and foremost, if you are going to tell me to do something please, for the love of God use simple terms. The reason it takes me hours to try to fix something, (Two for getting diablo 1 to work) its because everyone uses obscure references and commands. Please, please dumb it down for the poor schmuck that isn't computer savvy.

I am not sure if it will fix it, but I suggest that you try a clean install while following a patching guide, like this one:

This game absolutely needs to be patched properly.

I'm going to uninstall as well. I didn't get that far so it doesn't hurt as much. Time to reinstall!
