How did you install it on Win 7?
I personally cannot. Clicking on "INSTALL" from autorun.exe or double-clicking on setup.exe from the CD1 yields the same result: the waiting hourglass for about 5 secs, then nothing. I have the latest SP and all updates. Using Compatability Mode on setup.exe doesn't work.
What's the problem, do you recon?

I have a windows 7 and i installed balder's gate 2. But i can't have cheats because access is denied, or i need administrative permission. I am the administrative user on my computer but I still can't make any changes to the game. Suggestions?

Balder's gate 2

I have a Windows 7 pc and have installed balder's gate 2 on my computer but I can't make any changes to the baldur.ini file. Access is denied, or sometimes a pop-up screen states that I need administrative permission WHILE I AM THE ADMINISTRATIVE USER!!! Suggestions???

Baldur's Gate & Windows 7

When you go to open Baldur's Gate, if you right click on the icon, you get a drop down in windows 7 giving you the option to run it as an administrator. Let me know how you go

BG on Windows 7

bought the game online (BG+ expansion and BG2 + expansion) yesterday and got it today.. (99 swedish kronor from cdon)

installed it and it works fine.. BUT some stuff who i "need" in the game doesnt work to 100%..

example: when im in a fight, i pause and want to see how badly injured my enemies are.. holding my mouse over him and is shows his name and all but not the stuff i "need".. im used to see whitch status his in, like: injured, badley injured or near death and more..

the other stuff i find enoying is: when i find a wepon who is not identified it should have a blue background (in my inventory) so i know i have to identify it before use or if i want proper cash if i sell it.. but the blue background isnt there! (but the red one is when me or anyone in my party cant use a wepon, like a mage cant use a bow) so i have to right click on it to se if i need to identify it or not.. thats quite enoying!

anyone who knows what to do, so i can get this little but very important stuff in my game? :P

1. Right-Click your baldur.ini file and go to Properties.

2. Select the Security tab at the top.

3. Click Edit.

4. Highlight Users in the first window.

5. Check-mark Full Control Allow.

6. Press OK.

When you're doing typical computer work, you're not using you're full administrative rights so to protect you from accidentally botching the system. If you have any other problems, let me know.

Hey Guys, Something REALLY useful that most people are not aware of is that if you have Win 7 Pro you can install Windows XP mode Virtual Machine (from Windows) no extra charge. Just Google XP mode for Windows 7.

Even though BG may work in Win 7 there are many other old classics that don't so this is great way to be able to still play your old favs (This will also work for printer and scanners etc. that are not compatible with win 7 64 bit)

Best advice has already been covered; disable the UAC and PCA. Look here for information on how to do this.

Do not install BG into your /programs folder, I always install my games straight on the C drive, i.e. "C:\Baldur's Gate, C:\BGII - SoA", or something like that.

Only problem I've ever had is that the fatigue system seems buggy and not functioning as intended on win7. This was before I learnt about disabling the PCA, however - will be interesting to see if that has had any effect.
Selinde Truesword- I am clearly deranged. Look who I travel with! Minsc, meet the Pirate Lord!

Minsc- Pirate Lord? Such a name does not conjure images of righteous behavior. Stand still a moment and let Boo have a look at you.

Desharik- Er, why is your friend pointing a hamster at me?
