Avatar changing

Post by Kipi »

Noticed one strange thing today: When I go to News Archive from forums, my avatar shown in upper right corner changes to completely different one. I'm using one of the avatars hosted here in GameBanshee, the one of flaming skull, but when I go to News Archive it changes to bald guy. It seems that the avatar I originally chose (the flaming skull) only applies to actual forums and blogs sections, everywhere else the site gives me that balded guy.

When I checked User CP, it shows that I'm using the avatar number 350 (the skull) but for some reason when I move away from forums or blogs it shows avatar number 540 as my avatar.

I can post image of this if needed, though currently photobucket doesn't want to co-operate with me so that has to wait...

Thanks for the feedback, Kipi. As long as I can duplicate the issue myself, we should be able to track down the issue within the next couple of days.

Noticed one thing:
While I'm away from forums or blogs, and click the "My profile" button I get to screen where I can edit my details. In that screen there is listing of predefined avatars to choose from, but the listing doesn't contain the avatar I'm using. On the other hand it doesn't contain the avatar number 540 either. Could this one be the reason of changing avatars?

To those who hasn't noticed, the screen which comes when "My profile" is clicked differs when clicked from forums/blogs or somewhere else. Everywhere else you can only edit your name, e-mail, password, time-zone language and avatar.

Oh, and triple checked, I'm correctly logged in with my own account, so that can be ruled out as potential candidate causing this.

Hi, I just made an account on GB and I'm having the same problem, my avatar changes whenever I refresh or move to a new page. I tried to select one, but it just changes to a random pic every time.

Your avatar indeed changes every time ANYONE refreshes :) I was worried there for a second that we're accepting .gif's as avatars!

Yeah, its getting a little weird. First time I tried picking a guy in power armor from the fallout series, and I was pretty surprised to see my avatar as some random scantily clad woman  .

Tried picking another avatar? Maybe the power-armor av is the source of the problem 'ere.

Ha! I just refreshed the page and OldSoul's avatar changed. LOL.

Just save the image you want to your desktop, and then upload it as a custom avatar.

I think the problem had something to do with my Mac. I changed my avatar on my windows computer and it doesn't seem to be changing anymore

Well I had an avatar which I liked and without warning it has disappeared, and it is not just the avatars that have changed

Did you try changing back to your preferred avatar? I was under the impression that the avatar problems were a thing of the past (since nobody has posted in this thread in almost two years).
