A simple SoZ question
A simple SoZ question
How do I remove the starting party? I mean that party you create at the ship in the begining. I don't want any silent dudes in my game! only SoZ npc. Problem is, it is quite hard to win the first fight with only 1 character, I have to create them. I tried removing them in Lera's trick, but that can't be done. How do I remove them??
One trick (untested) would be to run around in circles with a decent AC hope the soldiers from the town come before you get slaughtered. I am not sure if the script is to have that event happen only after some of the enemies are killed.
what main character do you want to play? Oh and SoZ doesn't have a strong point in NPCs. I don't think they have much banter?? And some of them are built as terrible characters. For instance SPOILER the halfling swashbuckler takes luck of heroes even though he gets that later from swash END SPOILER

Right Speech has four aspects: 1. Not lying, but speaking the truth, 2. Avoiding rude and coarse words, but using gentle speech beneficial to the listener, 3. Not slandering, but promoting friendliness and unity, 4. Avoiding frivolous speech, but saying only what is appropriate and beneficial.
You can't remove a party member you have created.
Sadly, if you don't want any silent dudes in your game then you should stop playing SOZ.
(..overall though it's a short "campaign", and really it shouldn't even be called a campaign.) It's mostly a "show-case" for the overland map and the party dialog system (..that uses various skills from different members for different responses.)

Actually, I discovered I can remove a party member I have created. Through the "register party" option, in the tavern. Problem is, as you said, it is becoming more and more appearent that the SoZ npcs are silent dudes by their on account. And it is appearent that whoever wrote the overland map script likes final fantasy alot.

I've never played any Final Fantasy game.
The overland map is another extension of skill-set interaction, and the much needed "random encounter".
Basically you should have one party member that has either a high Hide or Move Silently skill that leads around your party on the overland map (..i.e. is the character selected when you move around on the map). That way you aren't constantly getting pounded by random encounters, and you can even pick and choose your encounter for some skill points.
The visual aesthetic is.. eh, not bad for what it is.
Here is a party I created for SOZ (a group of 4), and it works well:

..maybe a little too well (..on the most difficult game setting). Also designed for use without companions (..except for crafting). Note that crafting is very important to this build with respect to enchantment with bows and arrows. (..Hint: get your arrows from sellers in West Harbor if you use any bow-use characters.)
Here is SOZ's crafting guide:
