Assistance please and a curiousity

Hi everyone

There are several things that I require some assistance with in IWD2 - any help is much appreciated.

1) In Goblin warrens level 2 my game crashes more often than not - does anyone have a solution to this ( I am running windows 7) and only this part of the game is buggy for me. I've checked online with limited solutions and have tried the ones that I have found with the result that it crashes even faster now.

2) Still in the goblin warrens - this is more of a "just out of curiosity question" - lets say instead of dealing with the demon on level 1 you kill him and take the bracers - then you go up to level 2 and defeat all the red colored monsters - can you still deal with the goblin by giving him the bracers (even though your characters shouldn't know what its for - the team already let one goblin leader leave with his tribe so why not let another go ?) If so do you still get a reward and XP out of it? So if anyone has a saved game and has killed the demon and taken the bracers up to level 2 what happens?

During this run through I have a ranger and druid who are part of the party and who take a great deal of dislike at unnatural creatures (e.g. demons) and so won't deal with them - "see one kill one" - just to tell you my reason for killing the demon on goblin warren 1.

3) Importing characters - having noticed that my goblin warren level 2 is buggy I decided to jump over the section to a saved game outside the goblin warren just when you go up the stairs after finding the 2 wardstones and leaving - so I am no longer in the goblin warrens and the game should run smoothly - BUT a problems occurs after importing the party - and that is it says an errors occurs in assertion - this is program talk for something didn't click right with the team and the saved game since the program shuts down because of this assertion error - any help or solution to fix this ?

Note: the previous game with the previous team - did things a little differently than this ranger team - killed the first goblin leader in level 1 that you could talk too and made a deal with the demon. While this party let the goblin leader go and then made a deal with the demon since I thought it was some sort of continuation problem between the teams being imported and exported. Any ideas anyone why this error in assertion happens and solutions? Thanks

I can answer no.1 - yes, I always get incredible lag in that area, did on my XP and no different on my W7. It's the only part of the game where it happens and I'm not sure anyone really knows, honestly, why that little section is like that.

I do the Demon quest differently every time and I can never remember which is the best way to do it, I'm normally quite impatient with the whole 'Goblin marathon' thing by this point and am starting to hurry-play anyway.

No help on tech issues as I never encounter them with the IWD series, that's why I like them so much

You can go to the demon, ask for the bracers, go to the red goblins give bracers. Then kill the demon. Then kill the red goblins.

If you don't kill the demon later he returns more powerful to fight you

There is a unofficial patch that fixes the Goblin Warrens level 2, which can be found at least from [url='http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/IWD2/index_editors.php']Sorcerer's Place[/url]. While it officially only fixes the lag issue, I have also noticed that the GW level 2 becomes more stable as well.

Also with regards to maxing xp on every single decision (like the demon and dekanter goblins), the xp scales diminishingly to your level so if you miss xp you will get a lot of it (not all) back by getting more xp per monster later. SPOILER:

The Ice Temple pretty much levels people up to kick butt with all the golems.
