There is a beholder Zil-tor ?(sic) guarding the slaughter fields my problem is that there is a chasm between where I am and the Beholder so I cannot run up to him and strike him. And even if I kill him with missile weapons with that chasm and all I don't know how to enter the fields of slaughter.

I figured out that the chasm was actually a door to the fields of slaughter. We took the beholder down with magical missile weapons.
