Which henchmen to take with swashbuckler?

Post by Aribeth »

Should I take Qara instead of Grobnar? Should I take Khelgar instead of Casavir?

I am playing with pure swashbuckler, and I am doing good job with Neeshka, Khelgar and Qara.

I would probably take Khelgar (because I think Paladin's are shit in NWN2). He is a formidable tank. With Qara and Grobnar - it is more a question of what role you need filled. Qara is great for crowd control spells and Grobnar very useful due to the buffs from bard songs, (ironskin chant on the entire party is less costly than stoneskin), he makes a decent ranged attacker and he can make up the spell shortfall with wands. I would recommend as a Swashbuckler taking a few skill points in lockpicking then just leaving Neeshka out of the party in the later game in favor of another spellcaster.

You can definitely take her all through the game, but there will be a lot of fights later on where her talents as a rogue are useless - though I rarely use traps, so with a bit of micromanagement she could be effective.

I also vote Khelgar. I never got Quara to work well because she has so much damage spells that are area of effect and hit my own party.

I usually take: elenee, neeshka, and khelgar.. Elenee has area friendly lightning spells, summons, buffs, and perhaps a dino companion.

I take the same party as Claudius, for the same reasons. Later on, I might add Qara or Sand. I do prefer Sand, better versatility.

If you take khelgar (spoiler) you should get warhammer proficiency.
