S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Zone Reclamation Project question and loot spawning

Post by Arcada Xenon »

So, I decided to play S.T.A.L.K.E.R. SOC again, after having completed it almost 5 years ago, but to be really thorough this time. (Also, to take advantage of the new patches, and the ZRP, because I used to have a constant fear of game crash during my first play-through, and not without a cause, if I may add)
Anyway, I managed to install ZRP, and it works. (I have the sleeping bag, and can see the other benefits) Though, none of the additional mods, such as the new trading system, new flashlight, real gun names, work... In short, all those mods that say that there may be conflict... But I have no other mods installed, so I can't figure out why it doesn't get applied...
Also, my other question is concerning the Pseudodogs random task... I have killed three of them so far, but no luck with the tail. Can you tell me what mechanic is behind the loot spawning? Does the loot get calculated after the monster dies, when you enter the map, or when it spawns? Or is it something different entirely? I'm asking because I want to know is it worth reloading your quick-save and killing the same Pseudodog until you eventually get the tail? Because I will do it, even if it means 50 reloads.
P.S. Excuse my English, I'm writhing this in a hurry, and also rather distressed.

Hey,

So, it's been ages since I've played Stalker, so I won't be very helpful for most of your questions. As far as the psuedodog goes, I always had luck finding the tail from a dog that would attack me just west of the overpass, north of where the game begins but south of the train tracks.

Know this message isn't too helpful, but hope it gives you a pointer. Also, hope that whatever was distressing you isn't too big of a deal.

Thanks, I got lucky in the end. :D It's a minor thing really, but I can just be weird like that sometimes. :P

Heya Arcada, I've spent quite a bit of time with the STALKER series, and still play on occasion, maybe I could help you out with your problem. Does the game start fine and you are able to load into the Zone without crashing? (if it does crash then I'd like to see the log)
Actually it would probably help if you took a look at the log anyway, a lot of the time it will list the non-fatal errors as well. Other then that the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is... did you modify fsgame.ltx to read mods in the first place? Most mods should have that step in the ReadMe.
The pseudodog tail comes from the dog in the little tunnel, I think. If you follow the road north-east from the bandit place you'll end up at the tunnel. There are normally a few blind dogs running around and a pseudodog inside. But don't hold me to it, I may be wrong... been a while since I visited ShoC. (been considering it for a while... it's always such a pain to get the mods set up again. Luckily ShoC Complete is largely bug free.)
Also, since we're already on the topic of STALKER, just a couple weeks ago Misery2 for CoP was released. It's a good reason to go back to that game (it's my fav out of the three) and give it another spin, they add a whole bunch of new stuff. Personally I'm not too happy with how the mod turned out, but I was never a fan of that type of mod in the first place.
