(Please make the game with good old 2D graphic and no thanks to 3D)
I wouldn't play BG3 if they have nothing to do with Baldur's Gate, with no environs related and completely with new characters.
I would rather see some trace of Baldur's Gate, as old remnants or places brings mysterious feeling as well as good nostalgia.
For example, at the corner of the world map, you can still reach to,, let's say CandleKeep, but you can't enter the main gate because it's cut with limited geography plus it will show some kind of sign of ... 'This castle is closed due to mysterious evil creatures spawning and the soldiers from Amns are dealing with them".
and city of Baldur's Gate still to be accessable, but maybe with some new buildings if BG3 is based on different Dale Reconings, but still have the same old buildings (stained wall to show its aged) so you can see them and feel nostalgia about it. and when you enter the city, you will hear the good old "DAN DAN DAN" baldur's gate main theme.. perhaps bit of modified version of music, but with strong sound in it. then music turns quiet and glorious and all of sudden you will hear the flute just like IWD playing in sad tune that will bring the tear in your eye and music sound increases with other instruments and plays almost orchestra-like and brings goosebump.!!. man..!
Completely new characters (NPCs)? if the DR is far from original BG then everyone must be dead with age, but if it isn't, least some elves and mages should still be alive because they live long and some mages use divine power to extend their age.
It would be interesting to see some of young elves (such as Xan) you met from BG and you see them really old in BG3 and they talk about the old story including some new stories and events that happened till the era of BG3.
In my first post I said it's already wrapped up to continue BG protagony, but I think it would be still good idea that someone like Irenicus re-appears and secretly try to obtain Bhaalspawn power but have this as semi-quest inbetween the Chapters rather than having it as main quest so make sure it has nothing to do with main plot of the BG3.. so have him as like semi-boss level so that characters can earn lots of exp killing him and obtain new spells after killing him and what not.. again this is to bring nostalgia and to bring da refreshing feeling ! It also proves history repeats!
If you agree but wonders how would that work, I think the evil guy or woman (irenicus secret blood line or w/e), will steal the divine power from the Elven city (suldanetheler(?) sorry for spelling).
Or it could be something like the last Bhaalspawn in BG3 who is the last blood of 'you'(from bg1, bg2) still walk on the Faerun and you (who is not Bhaalspawn in BG3) will have to find him (or her) and deal with him.
To make things more interesting, the Bhaalspawn in BG3 wouldn't neccessarily be evil, it could be an innocent child who has absolutely no idea what he is capable of (Just like you were in BG1,2 when you were child in Candlekeep), or it could be an adult but with kind heart (like when you could choose good ending), so in this case you will need to make big decision on what to do with the last Bhaalspawn and I think that will add real good drama to the story. But the decision will have to be.. eliminating them! but there must be option to do so in good way and bad way.. good way would be something that wouldn't hurt them physically and send their soul(?) back to the plane (with the help of angel from Bhaal plane in TOB or something) or something like that.. It's up to the whoever going to make the game!
So what do I think of main BG3 plot should be? well 2nd edition of DnD ( I havent read any DnD! lol) , or something totally new. But like I said, keep some connection to the BG1 and 2 protagony and have it as semi-quests or semi-plot (w/e) at least.
who should be the BG3 final boss? well.. someone or any creature who is more potentially dangerous than BG1,2 boss.
