RPGs on tablets

I'm getting a Samsung tablet in a few weeks. Some kind of promotional deal with my newspaper. Are there good, solid, RPGs for tablets? Not anything "iCrap" exclusive: it's not an iPad and I won't touch anything Apple-related unless I can cure cancer by it or solve worldhunger. ;-) (And even then it should be solving hunter by Angus beef at the least.)
BG: EE is out: too buggy, and I vastly prefer the originals + mods.

Gawain, my advice to you is to get GemRB. It's a free application which will let you play the IE based games on Android and iPad. I swear by it - I gave Planescape: Torment on my HTC One at all times. I don't think you can do better than that.

This will allow you to grab a currently installed version of your game, so BG with TuTu, BG2 with UB, PS:T with Quinn's Restoration pack, Fallout 2 with Resotration Mod, etc.

So, it just transfers my current installation to the tablet? If that's the case, you're a godsent.

That's right. You do have to install the GemRB version of the Widescreen mod to match the resolution of your tablet and edit the configuration file, but other than that you're all set.

Unfortunately, you would have to edit this file every time you want to play a new game, in order to direct it to the proper directory. I believe that there is a way to make each game a specific app, but I haven't been able to figure it out just yet.

Any other suggestions? New RPGs would be very welcome. Aren't there any remakes of the Final Fantasy series for tablets?

It looks like the Google Play store does have Final Fantasy IV, but I never played the series, so I can't really recommend it.

Bard's Tale is available as well.

For me, having the IE games is good enough, though I wish we could play Arcanum on tablet.

I got the tablet today and the screen is smaller than anticipated. I won't be able to play IE games on that.
FFIV I already own on 3DS. Same goes for III and Crono Trigger.
Are there perhaps SNES emulators on Android?

Are you sure? I'm able to run Planescape: Torment through GemRB on my HTC One phone, and I'm sure that your screen is way larger.

For Android, there are SNES, N64, GBA and NDS emulators.

It's a 17.8 cm = 7" screen.

Mine is a 4.7" screen.

The iPad Mini is only 7.9" while an iPad is 9.7".

From the technical perspective, you will be fine.

As for comfort, that one is up to you - I will admit that, the games are playable on a phone, but at that point, it's pushing it.

I don't find that to be an issue on my phone. However, if you do, you can always increase the text size using a mod (I think it's a built component of the widescreen mod).

To be honest, I haven't really looked into it, as I still got Fire Emblem: Awakening for my mobile gaming needs. I would really like to be able to play IE games on the train, though.
